This was tested with a Henry Lever Action Rifle and a S&W M&P 22. The purpose of the test was that there are some people do use a 22 long rifle for home defense. If they missed their target and hit the drywall in their home.
The video was demonstrated by 22Plinkster and discovered most of the .22 rounds went through 9 drywall and some into the tenth drywall, its very impressive for a 22 round. See the test here.
Does anyone remember the Outdoor Life column “Taps Tips?
I remember one that was so funny I couldn’t stop laughing. This guy shoots a deer and immediately remembers his friend telling him so save the tail for him to make bucktail streamers for fishing.
So the guy cuts off the deer’s tail. Next thing the deer got up and ran away. All he got was the tail.
LMAO!
When I was growing up, a new pair of blue jeans had so much stiffner that we could shoot each other in the a$$ with a 22.
Before I watched the video, I was thinking about the factors that would affect the bullets.
First off, I thought there might be a small amount of flex in the sheetrock because it was only secured loosely at the bottom between 2x4 blocks. Installed sheetrock would be more firm as it is secured all around and held in place with multiple nails/screws fastened to studs.
I also thought there might be some leeway in the barrel pressure in the lever-action rifle vs a semi-auto rifle like a 10/22.
Then, there’s the silencer on the pistol. Most home defense pistols aren’t gonna have a silencer, so that’s not a real-world scenario.
But then...
I watched the video, and all of the above just didn’t seem to matter. With most rounds going thru 8-9 layers...
Just wow.
22 cal. pellets maybe... and they really hurt.
.22LR? I have some dim misty memory from the past of actually being able to BUY them so I could fire my now-useless, empty .22 rifle.
.22 BB rounds. are still penetrable. A.22 long rifle would cause permanent damage. Most assassins use a silenced .22 auto to make a close kill. I believe H&R.
#8 Did Elvis live there at one time?
I have a house with some bullet holes in it.
No, it's just a typical house in Inner Pennsylvania.
You guys must practice duck and cover!
If we finish early, after practicing "return fire."
I agree with you.. Today’s air rifles are much stronger than our old ones where you could see the arc of the BB or pellet as it left the muzzle traveling to the target.
We used to have BB gun battles. We would set up hay bales and use the horse pasture. No one ever lost an eye!
God looked out for us stupid kids.
The Taurus Judge and S&W Governor are very similar.
I have my Governor loaded with rounds of increasing stopping power: Birdshot, Defense Shot, then 45.
:: for INDOOR home defense get a Circuit Judge. It fires both 410 shotgun AND .45 cal bullet ::
Precisely the recommendation PERSONALLY told to me by Mr. Ted Nugent. Get a Judge ^then^ get a lawyer!
I need a a bam-balance!
You might want to look into 0.410 saboted deer slugs. Very effective for that “defense round”.
Keep it on center-mass, brother.
No, I meant 22 cal rimfires. Ok, I’ll add the /sarc. :-)
If you hear the shot, you were not the target.
From a long rifle barrel, not surprised.
From a short pistol barrel, it will be less.
