More than 70 percent of manufacturing jobs and more than half of jobs involving data collection might be rendered obsolete by automation and robots, according to a report from McKinsey & Company.
One study estimated up to 80 percent of current jobs may be threatened by automation, which could become a critical economic issue for policy makers and global leaders in the coming decades.
While Americans celebrate Labor Day weekend, it is a good time to contemplate the rise in artificial intelligence and how it can threaten jobs in all types of industries....

The goal must be to have no employee costs. Nobody works....just lives in dirt huts eating said dirt.

As long as they keep the engineers, tech and production workers here to design and build the automation products and robotics, and not send overseas, I don’t see a problem with that.

Then what is the goal?
Just hand out the viagra pills, the ones with the 4 hour erections. People will be dying off happy-nothing else to do.
Without workers with income who is going to buy the products produced?
The corporations believe that they can eliminate their workers, but there will still be enough people with incomes worldwide and overall to continue to buy their products.
You've gotta understand hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, electrical, precision mechanical, plumbing, lubrication, computers and PLC control systems, industrial motors, drives and feedback and control circuits.
You have to be willing to get your hands dirty.
You should know how to TIG, MIG and arc weld, and basic machining.
Very few people are going to school for this.
The pay ranges from good to excellent.
Guidance "counselors" have no idea these jobs even exist.
The course study is hard and complex.
Can’t learn any of that in black, hispanic or gender studies. Those are only good for gov’t jobs.

Now THAT was an outstanding comment. Automation will also reduce the need for government jobs and it will be interesting to see how politicians deal with THAT.
I wonder if Robots will buy things from Amazon.com?
The Unions and lazy people want all these big pay raises for doing nothing that requires any skill and I do not blame business for replacing then with Robots. America is going to have to work and study again or get lost in the 21ST Century.
Americans are willing to work. They aren’t willing to spend $100,000 on a technical education only to have their job given away to an H1B for a third the wage the American can work for.
It’s not even a viable economic model to do that, even for those willing to spend that money to get an education and then go work for Hablo’s wage.
