PROVIDENCE, R.I. Students might notice some changes in the cafeteria when they go back to school in a few weeks.
The USDA will announce rules today that require schools to get rid of unhealthy snacks and eliminate students exposure to junk food, ABC News has exclusively learned.
Rhode Island already complies, having phased in these healthy guidelines about seven years ago, before they were official rules. "We're proud of what we're doing in Rhode Island, said Elliot Krieger, spokesman for the state Department of Education. We've been a leading state on this and it's great that our students have had healthy environments in their schools for many years."
The biggest difference this year will be what students see around the school. If a snack, food item or beverage is not healthy enough for a school to sell or serve, it can't be advertised either. That means no more pictures of soda on vending machines or in the cafeteria....

She’s a fachist...
She’s a fascist...
Public School is Child Abuse.
Teaching kids early that they have no rights.
She’s a FAT@hits. I mean fascist.
How about they focus on literacy and making sure kids graduate with the ability to do math?
Wouldn’t that be nice for a change!
A boy can go in the girls bathroom or you can’t use it.
Taking this at face value, I’m all for getting junk food out of the schools. It’s not needed, and many parents don’t want it. Why should vending machine owners make money at the expense of kids?
BUT, to substitute good cooking with the absolute crap Wookie’s mandate has put on their lunch trays is criminal.
AND - make your kids’ lunch at home, so you know what they’re eating.
I don’t remember ANY vending machines for kids in K-12 schools in the 50s and 60s.
I identify as a carnivore !
Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. All of you listen, he said, and try to understand. Its not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart.
Then Jesus went into a house to get away from the crowd, and his disciples asked him what he meant by the parable he had just used. Dont you understand either? he asked. Cant you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? Food doesnt go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in Gods eyes.)
And then he added, It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a persons heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you. Mark 7:14-23
So funny. Check and see how many schools prepare their own meals ... you know, those moms part-timing it in the school cafeteria? Few or none. Most are crony capitalist contracts to “nuke the fast food after delivery” companies that are no different than MacDonalds or any other fast food company.
I am a teacher & it is tragic all the food that gets thrown out. Not to mention the weird combos: cheese burger w/ steamed cauliflower & spaghetti w/ a baked sweet potato!!!!! Gross! Where she really blew it is when you compare what her kids get at their private school & what the public school peons are served. Like night & day.....
I hope these new rules are enforced with a vengeance.
Expulsions and public arrests.
Hard, hard crackdowns beginning in October and lasting at least one week into November.
I shoulda included the geographic detail of IN THE SCHOOL. Sorry. Obviously kids could easily buy cigarettes from machines all over the place.
Some enterprising young student will get rich selling “black market” snacks to fellow students, just watch.
This seems like a golden opportunity for roach coaches to
park just outside school grounds and meet the demand for good tasting food.
More specifically, note that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to decide policy for intrastate schools. The feds are therefore prohibited from doing what misguided, low-information FLOTUS is doing.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
Also, as mentioned in related threads, corrupt Congress is letting the USDA get away with stealing legislative branch powers, presumably so the USDA can do Congresss dirty work for it. This is probably so that corrupt lawmakers can keep their voting records clean to fool low-information patriots into reelecting them.
Remember in November !
Patriots need to support Trump / Pence by also electing a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to not only support Trumps vision for making America great again for everybody, but will also put a stop to unconstitutonal federal interference in state affairs as evidenced by FLOTUSs unconstitutional food policy for schools.
Note that such a Congress will also probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-igoring activist justices.
These are public schools. What does literacy and numeracy have to do with it?
