After Auschwitz, multiculturalism and moral relativism, are obscene -- Inclusive diversity is a weak substitute, and sometimes it takes a visit to Auschwitz to understand why
In November of last year, Canadas new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a speech in London England, setting out his view of Canadas values:
Compassion, acceptance, and trust; diversity and inclusionthese are the things that have made Canada strong and free, he noted, and continued: We have a responsibilityto ourselves and to the worldto show that inclusive diversity is a strength, and a force that can vanquish intolerance, radicalism and hate.
Trudeau’s father was a conscientious objector he only cared about himself
I lived through the elder Trudeau nightmare in Canada.
I see the apple has not fallen far from the tree.
I cannot believe Canadians voted for this nonsense again.
Yep. Hid Dad didn’t even bother to fight the bastards who committed those crimes at Auschwitz.
I don’t like Trudeau and I don’t care for multiculturalism as officially expounded in Canada, but calling Auschwitz the Achilles heel of multiculturalism makes no sense and neither does the excerpt from the opinion piece.
There is no possible point to be made here. Different cultures may or may not co-exist peacefully. Auschwitz was one solution and multiculturalism is a different solution. Perhaps it’s best to conclude that each is wrong in its own way.
On his Dad:
Trudeau said he was willing to fight during World War II, but he believed that to do so would be to turn his back on the population of Quebec that he believed had been betrayed by the government of William Lyon Mackenzie King. Trudeau reflected on his opposition to conscription and his doubts about the war in his Memoirs (1993): “So there was a war? Tough ... if you were a French Canadian in Montreal in the early 1940s, you did not automatically believe that this was a just war ... we tended to think of this war as a settling of scores among the superpowers.”
Sorry to say this, but a lot of Canada’s greatness comes at the expense of the US taxpayer. Just like the rich NATO nations, Canada gets to spend dollars that should be funding a strong military on social programs instead. I can’t wait for Trump to slap this little snot head around a bit.
Hockey players.
Gordon Lightfoot
your points are well made.
but I think the point that the poster is trying to get at, is that if one is only armed with moral relativism, then, really...one has a difficult time condemning anything. including Auschwitz.
I saw a documentary a few years ago...was it the one with Ben STein? I think it was. But he was talking to a young German about the horrors of the past. And the young German when asked if she could condemn that (or some sort of question along those lines), she said she couldn’t pass judgment.
I think this sort of morally crippled is the attitude the poster is getting at. And certainly some of the blame for that insanity lies in the moral relativism idea.
Inclusive diversity ... a British province requiring the knowledge of the French language.
That’s the reality.
Canada is the moral equivalent of a bunch of teenagers living at home. Mommy and Daddy will protect and keep the Bad People away.
They have fewer people then California living in a land mass almost half the size of the U.S. Without our nuclear umbrella, they would most likely be speaking Chinese sian right about now.
So they can afford to posture and make fatuous statements.
Well, they do have Kevin Rutledge of course...
Of course... who on earth is going to mess with Canada... When they live next door to the biggest, baddest, MO FO military in the known universe?
THEN, they go and trash mouth us, because THEY have free health care, etc.
Really??
Canada’s area is bigger than the US.
Figures were 39% Liberal. 30% Conservative. 22% NDP 9% others. Canadians cannot vote head to head for a Prime Minister. He only appears on his district/riding ballot. Justine Trudeau in suburb of Montreal.
Sault Saint. Marie Ontario and Sault Sainte Marie Michigan one of the friendliest neighbour relationships in North America. Mind yer manners and get treated very well on both sides of the border.
Excuse the sermon. Reminds me of the hard scrabble years post war England. We saw Hollywood films and thought all Americans had a beautiful mansion with a glamorous women walking down at staircase. Or in other locations spoke like the Bowery Boys. Maybe some Americans think we are all like the ones portrayed here. (laughs
It’s true, but they always point out that not all of it is usable.
Ain’t nobody way up North except the end of the roaders.
” but they always point out that not all of it is usable.”
Wait till global warming hits :).
A guy walks into his Boss’s Office.
The Boss tells him how wonderful he is and offers him a Job running their Canadian Office.
The Guys says, Canada? They only have Hookers and Hockey Players in Canada.
The Boss says, my Mother lives in Canada.
The guy replies...
