The former head of an influential pro-gun lobbying group said over the weekend that losing the White House could mean pro-gun activists have to resort to the bullet box to protect the Second Amendment.
In a conversation on his Gun Owners News Hour, Larry Pratt, executive director emeritus of Gun Owners of America, interviewed Robert Knight, a fellow at the conservative American Civil Rights Union, who said a Democrat taking the White House and replacing the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia would pose great peril to gun rights.
At that point, we would have to come to an understanding, which weve been sort of taught, its been taught out of us, that the courts do not have the last word on what the Constitution is, Pratt said on the show, in remarks first flagged by RightWingWatch.
And we may have to reassert that constitutional balance, and it may not be pretty," he continued. "So, Id much rather have an election where we solve this matter at the ballot box than have to resort to the bullet box.
Knight replied, Well, theres impeachment, too.
Pratt previously made veiled references to gun violence as the leader of Gun Owners of America. He once said the Second Amendment was designed for people like President Obama and recently made a similar remark about Obamas Supreme Court nominee, Judge Merrick Garland.

Yup and then it reverts to other branches to correct, and if they dont, lesser magistrates, and if they dont, the people will have to.
And if it comes to that, its every leaders fault who didnt step up to do their jobs.
If we get that 5th Communist on the Court it will be far more than the 2nd Amendment that will be affected. Even now there are cases that have been bubbling through the court system waiting to be placed before the USSC, cases that will nullify the Bill of Rights in its entirety. The USSC will accept enough of them to nullify the Constitution altogether and then hand down relatively rapid fire decisions abrogating the whole thing. Freedom of Religion and the RKBA will be interpreted out of existence first and by the end of 2017 all will be gone.
First, he should not pose specific hypothetical situations where overthrowing the government would be called for, because that gives ammo to the enemy.
Second, your slander of the NRA disqualifies anything else you say in my book. Without the 5 million strong NRA we wouldn’t have any gun rights at all. That’s why the liberals constantly demonize the NRA and never bother with the relatively tiny GOA, who seem to spend most of their energy attacking the NRA. They know who is foiling their agenda, even if you don’t.
A quote I coined a decade ago:
“Those who talk, do not act. Those who act, do not talk.”
Yep.
The omly way tuat this will be resolved is when people are stripped of their jobs, their homes, and are starving. The only way to resolve this is when the government has stripped the last bit of dignity from every American, and even then it may be too late.
Best case, we devolve into european style socialism.
Worst case, we devolve into chinese style communism.
Absolute worst case, we devolve into arab-african tribalism-feudalism.
Either way, the natural order of mankind will re-assert itself.
There has always been the few lording over the many.
Election and seating of a Democrat President at this juncture is the certain and rapid end of the Republic and the initiation of radical Tyranny. By March 2017 many middle class and newly formerly middle class people will be saying to each other, "Why didn't we get out while we still could?" It will go from ominous to trapped in an instant.
“The GOP has the House, the Senate, the majority of state legislatures and likely will have the Presidency in 2017. Then what will their excuse be?”
Same excuse as it was when Dubya had a GOP Congress and didn’t do a damned thing except try to ram through amnesty.
You’re not supposed to notice that the GOPe lies to us and governs like Democrats.
Perhaps.
But on a completely different topic, I have had a wonderful life. There is no point to aging and being in awful health, as far as I can tell.
Freedom’s just another word for ‘nothing left to lose’ ...
Now WE are the anti-establishmentarians.
No dumping. Dumping is littering, which is bad.
OTOH, hogs have to eat, too, you know.
Go where?
Larry Pratt has had a loose mouth for a long time. He’s not helping.
There are still places to go. None of them are great because when the USA goes to hell the entirety of Western Civilization will follow and the new masters of the world will be the Moslems or China or the \two will contest that mastery for perhaps a long time. You have to go where the local population is friendly and self sufficient in food and you have to be one of the first to go there before that place shuts its borders to the flood of refugees. There are places, though where one can survive without too much discomfort for a few years, maybe more. I have one such scoped out pretty well and it is not any place that is normally bandied about as a bolt hole. I probably won’t go but my daughter and her family will go. They are getting passports in order and their ease key is my grandson who was born there and has a passport of his own from there. Son in law already has a work connection there. The timing is important. If Mrs. Bill is declared “elected” one might leave after that election but there is the not weak possibility that Hussein will have shut down the airports or cancelled all the passports or slapped on a $0 total of money permitted to be carried or sent out of the country before then. One has to judge whether a Trump win will be allowed to stand or whether some sort of “emergency” and shutdown will occur immediately it is announced. There are lots of variables here, all of them crazy nightmares up there with UFO invasion just a few years ago but very possible now.
Unfortunately the NRA is not what you think it is, I wish it was.
Tell me how the NRA is different than the NAACP or Al Sharpton?
You used the NRA favorite indoctrination line;
“Without us you wouldn’t have any gun rights at all”.
Thank you very little!! Us little people are so happy.
Without the group of lawyers who go by the name NRA we would still have the document refered to as the “Constitution”.
I am not the enemy my friend. I am a purist when it comes to the Second Amendment.
Maybe we should have already been fighting?
Background checks and FFL books are a stepping stone unto confiscation.
All they need to do is have the FFL dealers turn over the books and they have a registery to work from.
As you rightly attributed to them “thanks NRA”.
Be careful you are not a useful idiot like the liberals are for the overlords.
Should we discuss some of the current and former members of the board of directors of the NRA?
Without the group of lawyers who go by the name NRA we would still have the document refered to as the Constitution......And?
Absolutely.
I wasn’t implying dumping just thinking of tragic boating accidents when law abiding citizens were on their way to turn in their firearms and suddenly the boat swamps or something something.
