I’m very sad about Hodor, and even sadder about Summer.

Am I correct that there are only two dire wolves left? Ghost and Nymeria?

True, and Euron might have a bigger fleet, and might be a better sailor, but I think they’d all surrender if a dragon burned his flagship right at the start of the battle.

Well, since Ghost died north of the wall and his body wasn’t burned, I am pretty sure we’ll be seeing undead Ghost at some point. We know the others can raise horses (and in the books, bears and other creatures too).

Perhaps his connection to Bran would still remain in some form even as a wight. In the books, there is a wight named Coldhands who is NOT controlled by the others, and it is never clearly explained why, but my favorite theory is that it is because he was loyal to Bloodraven in life, so that protected him somehow from being controlled by the others. So if Bran is going to be the new Bloodraven, perhaps the others raise Ghost but can’t control him because Bran’s powers interfere...

Remember Jaime’s conversation with her about it in the baths? He speculated that she probably wished one of the boys had been able to force himself on her, but none of them ever could. The way she looked at him, he might have struck a nerve.

Well, maybe Tormund will be the boy that finally manages to wear her down and claim that prize :)

Ghost didn't die. He was with John when the Red Witch brought him back.

Oops, I meant Summer. I guess just thinking about him being undead made me think “ghost”.

An undead Summer might be interesting. Then you could see Whitewalkers stricken with fear saying “Watch out! Summer is coming!”

I just thought of something else. Hodor seems sure to have died too, and so he’ll be raised as a wight also. If Bran can stop him from being controlled by the others, then we may see an unstoppable zombie Hodor helping the good guys :)

First off, let me preface my comments with the following statement.

Having spent the days of my youth as your basic “lewd, rude, crude and socially unacceptable Sailor”, I am by no means a prude. I fully expect to see nudity on HBO and feel that if parents didn’t want their children to be exposed to nudity then they should censor their children’s viewing themselves, and not rely on either the government or the network to do their parenting for them.

However, having said that, could someone please explain the purpose of the 3 to 5 second full screen, close up shot of a male’s genitalia? This did absolutely nothing to further the narrative of the story, or the particular character’s story arc. The directors could have simply framed a long shot of the character’s bare backside (from Arya’s point of view) while the actor said his line about “having a wart on his c**k.
I am left to conclude that the purpose of the shot was for it’s simple shock value.

After 65 episodes, the producers and directors should have known better than to stoop to such cheap tactics.

Other than that one "ahem" small critique, the episode was fantastic, IMHO.

Very impressive - seriously. Is that your own writing?

If so, it deserves international acclaim.

“The first of his name - “ brilliant (and brought tears to my eyes).

Zombie Hodor loving is a sign of being a government stooge.

You government stooge you.

Personally I think Brienne is simply “playing coy” - as genuine interest from a man is something totally new to her.

And as a lady of House Tarth, she has her reputation to consider...

Well, since Ghost died north of the wall

Ghost is Jon Snow's dire wolf; and, he was brought into the room with Jon's body when Davos and a few of the Nights Watch were trapped together. I believe he is still alive.

The direwolf belonging to Bran (Summer), is the one who died last night protecting Bran.

Agreed - the “wart shot” offered absolutely nothing worthwhile to the story-line.

My very first thought was that somehow this was Arya’s doing, but then it became obvious that it was simply dropped-in. I mean really guys, there was nothing better you could have done with that time?

there is a wight named Coldhands

The revelation of the origin of the White Walkers opens a door to Coldhands/Benjen. If the White Walkers were originally creations of the Children of the Forest, it would be an easy stretch of the Rules of Magical Elasticity to posit that the COF created a second variety with different magical programming. The spell that kept Coldhands north of the wall is similar to the spell that kept the bad walkers out of the cave, and Coldhands also cannot enter the cave. A speculation: the COF found Benjen near death and "saved" him by turning him into a good wight.

Unless Meera has developed Superwoman powers between seasons 5 and 6, she is going to need help lugging Bran around. The show dropped Coldhands from the Sam/Gilly escape and Bran's trek north. That was odd. There were a billion and one ways for the books to accomplish these journeys without introducing a new magical character that then simply disappears. That's deus ex machina stuff. GRRM is better than that. He places an interesting and powerful mystery character at the center of two extremely important journeys, and it would simply be bad writing to leave that dangling. If Coldhands has a major role to play aside from being a glorified tour guide, this would be a natural place to introduce him.
