Forgive the vanity. My son just got back from taking the ASVAB for military service. This test attempts to measure aptitude and abilities for service. The highest possible score is 99. The lowest score for a marine corp officer is 74. He scored a 97. That's the highest score I've ever even heard of. So, proud poppa alert.

I’m a teacher of high school juniors and yeah, I’ve seen some 98s and 99s, but 97 is one hell of an ASVAB score. He’ll probably do great on his ACT/SAT too.

That is excellent. If your Son decides to go into the Corps, he will have his choice of spots.
I took the ASVAB back in the late 80’s, at a recruiting office for the Navy, received a 94. Was told to take another test for something else with a lot of math and technical crap. Scored a high 80’s on that.
Walked away when a machine tool company hired me right out of trade school. They paid much better than the military.
