Well, that must put this writer into a real quandary because DT is definitely not conservative.

Oh, bull crap.

Cruz's "character issues" are manufactured by Trump and his supporters here and elsewhere. This "article" is a case in point.

Cruz has been, continues to be, and always will be conservative.

Ya'll really ought to make up your mind; one day we hear "it doesn't matter if Trump is conservative or not, he'll give the GOPe 'what for'!!!"

The next day...."O.K., conservatism is important, but, but, but Cruz isn't really conservative because x, y, z."

We kick conservatism to the curb, here on FR, to support Trump, at our own peril.

Bravo, and where are Ted's many thousands showing up to fill an arena like Trump?
Cruz doesn’t do anything well with the people. He's dull and uninspiring.

I’ll set aside all the “Cruz is corrupt” narrative. My issues with Trump are: a) is he electable and b) how will he govern.

Gallup has Mr. Trump at 70% unfavorable among female voters. Women are the largest single voting block and they consistently turn out and vote. How will Mr. Trump overcome this obstacle?

We cannot review Mr. Trumps voting record since he’s a successful businessman - not a politician (a good thing). However his position on ethanol just prior to the Iowa vote is instructive. Ethanol is a classic, crony capitalist, big government, environmental weenie, boondoggle. After losing his lead in Iowa polls to Dr. Carson, Mr. Trump read a position paper to EXPAND ethanol subsidies in a Trump administration. If Donald Trump is a limited government conservative, why would he cut a deal on ethanol subsidies in exchange for the endorsements from Iowa’s GOP elite?

I have observed Ted since he ran for the Senate here, and you couldn’t be more wrong. He took on the establishment on a very hard road to win and beat them handily. He made very difficult promises, and he kept them. Your “accusations” about Goldman Sachs and the GOPe are simply from falling for the Trump lies, and have no basis in fact, at all.

>> in reality the election is over and Trump has won it

Trump has about a third of the vote in the primaries.

Therefore two thirds of the vote says “no sale”.

Handing the nomination to trump out of “fairness” is delusional entitlement politics.

Lyin’ Ted Talks conservative but he lives, votes, and acts otherwise. Actions speak louder than words. His speech is afflicted also with all of his pathological lying and smears.

Ted’s a fraud. Pretty simple. Liberals don’t have a monopoly on them. Too bad there are so many rubes out there who fall for his phony schtick. Just another huckster looking to grab the ring of power.

‘I have no idea what the framers of this Country had in mind when they decided to have Presidents born in America or by military families stationed overseas, but it seems a good idea you be born here. That said, the troubling part of the birther issue is his refusal to be transparent. Why does he seal all of his birth records and immigration documents to keep his citizenship hidden? Lay everything on the table and get it behind you rather than covering it up like Benghazi, this makes no sense.’

If everything in Cruz’ Consular File were in order he’d show it. Instead, when asked, he went Obama/Alinsky with a jump-the-shark video link. Cruz doing it is no different than when Obama did it; in both cases it’s a big middle finger to the voters.

Governor LePaul of Maine has been far more honest and transparent than Cruz. LePaul, who is an American citizen, had two daughters born in Canada. According to LePaul, both had to naturalize before they could be American citizens.

If there is one rule for the LePauls of this world and another for the Cruzes, Ted should explain that. Enough with the hiding, secrecy and dissembling; just lay out the facts.

Many conservatives condemned Obama’s secrecy and game-playing re his records. It shouldn’t be one hundred percent different just because Cruz is a Republican. Just give us the facts of the process, and let us draw our own conclusions.

Why would Goldman Sachs loan the Cruz’s a million dollars at less than market APR? Why did the Cruz’s need that kind of money and if it was legitimate, why did Ted forget to include it on his financial disclosures?

Seems to me that if these allegations are true, Cruz would have a hard time accusing Hillary of Wall Street cronyism.

I wouldn’t call what you presented here a vanity. No, I’d say it’s more of an exposé...great job recapping the main points that argue against a Ted Cruz nomination.

High on the list of curiosities you bring up is that donation to Carly Fiorina’s campaign. It is highly suspect and you are right to ask the question: why did Ted Cruz give money to a competitor last July, at a time when the candidates were all fighting hard against each other to get noticed and win the nomination? Hmm?
