Defend Heidi Cruz
by MONA CHAREN March 26, 2016
Is Trump the political genius that some have been hinting? Who else, without staff or experience, could rocket to the top of the polls and remain in that perch month after month despite everything? Maybe its genius, or maybe its shamelessness. The latter can be mistaken for the former. This weeks new slog in the mud demonstrates one of Trumps techniques to perfection he flings filth at an opponent and then invites the docile press to conclude that both sides are engaged in unseemly brawling. (This is usually John Kasichs moment to shake his head sadly and remind voters that, golly gee, he would never do such things.)
The wife spat began, as these things always do, with a Trump shiv. An independent PAC, Make America Awesome, published practically nude pictures fully available in the public domain of Melania Trump from a GQ photo shoot from the early 2000s, and invited viewers to consider whether someone who posed for such pictures would make an appropriate first lady. Trump then grabbed this small ad as excuse to hurl accusations at one of his opponents (wonder why he didnt accuse Kasich?), tweeting that he believed Cruz to be responsible for the ad and threatening to spill the beans about Heidi Cruz if Cruz werent careful.
Cruz had nothing to do the the Make America Awesome ad. But before getting to the rest of the imbroglio, and at the risk of seeming utterly Victorian in this sorry time, it seems to me that Melanias history as a nude model is not completely out of bounds as an election issue for voters. In an era when Paris Hilton becomes a household name for being featured in a sex tape,..... (READ ON)

That photo was before her marriage and becoming a mother. She was not involved in any illegal activity. She is not involved working for the campaign. Using that photo crosses every conceivable line.
And don’t forget that paragon of Catholic virtue, John Kennedy. So you take the Kennedy/Clinton/Cruz morality and claim superiority to the Gingrich/Trump morality.
You’re tiresome fish.
You forgot strumpets, my personal favorite.
You hit the nail ON The Head
If the guy didn’t lie nonstop they wouldn’t have to hear those words. Trump is excellent at crystallizing the Gestalt about someone, only after they attack him but always on target, Jeb! low energy...
I’m not down on her for being a model. I find the outrage about a public domain photo hirarious since they were together when the photos were published.
His manager paid GQ to use Melania’s photo and his name appeared at the bottom of the ad so it is obvious he was party to the ad. Or do you believe that like Obama he only learns of things in the news?
When senator cruz was elected was he not in a tight race and Sarah palin saved him?
is this why she had a nervous breakdown? Cruz’s hypocrisy.
***** I find the outrage about a public domain photo hirarious since they were together when the photos were published.*****
Then you should find it equally hilarious that the photo of Cruz’s wife was posted as it’s now public domain.
The rights to that photo need to be bought as Cruz’s campaign manager did. The photo is not public domain. The point is not that she and many other supermodels participated in that photo shoot. Its that the photo is being used to push a false narrative and as an attack on a candidate via a family member.
..well he can’t debate but to say several phrases.. I challenge him to debate one on one with the issues against Ted Cruz. That will tell the story. Is he man enough?
Most people stop with the chicken fights in late adolescence but Cruz still finds it compelling theatre to try and shame someone into giving Cruz attention and airtime.
Nice. Real nice.
I saw no attack, unlike trump did with the Kelly photos.
Are you aware of trump complaining about Ivana’s boob implants when he was cheating with Marla Maples?
The man is a pig.
Thank you, Mona Charen. We’re doing our best.
Debating is about persuasion.
I find Cruz boring and slimey in debate.
I find Trump to be sincere and compelling in debate.
I think Trump beat Cruz in every single debate this year. Many others agree with me. I think Trump is more effective at persuasion, which is key to politics.
But your mileage may vary.
So’s Elmer Cruz.
Elmer Cruz vs PT Trump?
