Trump opts out of next debate, so Fox cancels it
Canada Free Press ^ | 03/16/16 | Robert Laurie

No Trump, no show.

Earlier today, Donald Trump announced that he wasn’t going to participate in the next GOP debate, which was scheduled to take place in Salt Lake City next week. Trump told Fox News “I think we’ve had enough debates,” and would instead be “making a major speech in front of a very important group of people.”

Reaction to this was split.

If you like Trump, you think that he doesn’t need to debate anymore. He just came off a series of major wins, and another night at the podium does nothing but give his detractors an opportunity to attack.

"I don’t know why Cruz turned down the Town Hall Fox offered him. That’s an hour or two of free advertising."

I was going to post the very same thought. Free advertising and a chance for people to get to know him while he answers their questions. Why on earth would he turn that down? With some people already believing he's the 'Zodiac Killer,' wouldn't he like to set the record straight?

He’s got better things to do than show up at that debate.

Fox news needs him, not the other way around.

Trump is going to be the big man who faces down Putin, the Chinese, and ISIS - yet he runs like a girl from a GOP primary debate?

The Globetrotters can only play the New Jersey Generals and beat them so many times before the act gets boring.

Trump should be focusing on the general instead of wasting time with a loser that couldn't win a single state on the biggest delegate day of the primary season.

Cruz will have another day in the sun.

Not if he undermines Trump's chance of beating Hillary. He'll be viewed as the self-absorbed grandstander that he is.

Trump would not even make the JV debating team and Ted was captain of the varsity.

Sure. That is why Trump has been beating Ted from start to finish in this race.

Ted had 12 chances. He's a failed, bitter loser.

I’m surprised a Trump doesn’t want this opportunity to make his case to the voters is his quest for 1237. What is it that makes him so afraid?

Trump's already made his case...The country knows where he stands...

Cruz is a professional debater and an attorney...Trump is not...And that's all he's got to offer...He constantly wants to get Trump on the witness stand...

We support Trump for what he stands for, not how well he can carry on a debate with an attorney...

I agree Trump made a smart decision not to get in the ring with Cruz. Trump would not even make the JV debating team and Ted was captain of the varsity.

That's it...We're not looking for a masterdebater, we're looking for a President...

We have been over-saturated with debates this year. Thanks for putting a ‘merciful’ end to them.

Enough debates, and never another with that whore Megyn Kelly.

I can tell you, the average American is not interested in any debate at this juncture unless Trump is there, eve that is getting too long in the tooth to watch yet another attempt by GOPe types at FOX to try anr stick it to Trump and after so many failed attempts it is too expected and idiotic at this juncture.

I do not need to hear anything more from Cruz at this juncture since I know and understand in detail his “stance on the issues”, in fact I have heard enough from all of them and I am voting for Trump and no debate this point forward would change anything. Enough already.

Ted doesn't look bitter to me. He's a young man and knows he will be president someday - if not this election, then the next. And Cruz knows he has never wavered on his principles. He can sleep well at night.

Trump, on the other hand, has a permanent nasty scowl. Must come from a lifetime of ripping off people for their pieces of silver. That Trump University thing alone would be enough to shame most people. It takes a special class of callousness to pull that off - and it shows on his face.

Ha! You’re boy Cruz the Cuck is so charisma challenged: fox cancelled their party when they realized the cuck was the only one who accepted their invitation.

It really sucks to be in a cult of non-personality!

To quote the WOPR computer from the movie, “Wargames”, “the only winning move is, not to play!”.

The debates accomplish nothing, other than showboating Me-Gyn, and providing another cash cow for FOX.

It’s like watching the same movie over and over, before long you know the dialog better than the actors. The outcome is always the same. But, I guess Cruz feels he needs the exposure.

Nah. If I was a paid Cruz staffer, I wouldn’t want to be embarrassed by Ted in a debate. Trump feels the same way. Why would he want to be exposed as a relative lightweight when so many of his minions regard him as a political messiah.

Actually, seeing both candidates unfiltered head-to-head would be more illuminating than a thousand internet articles. Trump knows that Cruz would easily cut through his propaganda, and expose him as poorly informed. He can’t risk having the blinders ripped from his followers’ eyes.

That’s exactly what I would expect from a CRuz supporter at this point. What else is there?

I expected nothing better from scared rabbit Donald Trump. Maybe if Trump wraps up the delegate count early, his time will be freed to donate more thousands to the likes of Pelosi and Schumer. And don’t forget your pals Rahm and Blago, Don. $50,000 doesn’t go as far as it used to.
