Trump opts out of next debate, so Fox cancels it
Canada Free Press ^ | 03/16/16 | Robert Laurie

No Trump, no show.

Earlier today, Donald Trump announced that he wasn’t going to participate in the next GOP debate, which was scheduled to take place in Salt Lake City next week. Trump told Fox News “I think we’ve had enough debates,” and would instead be “making a major speech in front of a very important group of people.”

Reaction to this was split.

If you like Trump, you think that he doesn’t need to debate anymore. He just came off a series of major wins, and another night at the podium does nothing but give his detractors an opportunity to attack.

If the GOPe thinks that these other candidates are so much better, and have so much more to offer, you would think that they would jump at the idea of losing the candidate they don’t like in order to showcase the talents of the ones that they do like. That does not appear to be the case though... imagine that :/

Well said!

How will Kasich get his message out if he is not in a debate? He is the only candidate who refuses to fight anyone. He does not like anger, hostility and hatred, nor will he feed on it.

Trump had a previously scheduled meeting with AIPAC, Cruz can debate himself, after all he’s bathe smarmiest man in the room.

Yep.

If Fox new wanted to showcase Cruz, they would have had him talk and answer all their questions. Kasich knew that this was not about advancing Cruz chances, it was another ratings confrontation.

Rubbing Kelly in Trumps face, pardon the pun, and doing all that they could do to malign Trump.

I just about spit up my coffee when someone on the board said that Trump was afraid to face Cruz, or for that matter, anybody running. I suspect that if CNN offered another debate with reasonable people asking questions, and at a time where Trump and the other candidates could attend, that he would. But so far, nobody has offered.

Heck, I think that when Trump unleashes on the wicked witch of the west, the effects will be amazing. I don’t think he is the kind to let her squirm away into a hidey hole either.

This of course is all speculation on MY part. Time will tell.

I thought everything after the third debate was a total waste of time.....

Here is an interesting compilation of the First Republican Debate.

..Ted Cruz really comes off like panty waste often...

His whining about the debate was blatant sheer desperation and will change no ones opinion about Trump.

I don’t know why Cruz turned down the Town Hall Fox offered him. That’s an hour or two of free advertising.

I would say your feelings of dislike are misplaced but I can’t argue with your right to say it.

I’m surprised a Trump doesn’t want this opportunity to make his case to the voters is his quest for 1237. What is it that makes him so afraid?

Right from the start, Trump was smart enough to avoid a debate with Cruz.

Exactly. Hopey-changey slogans and ranting from a podium to fire up the crowd works for the donald, but if he had to sit down and discuss the particulars and the issues, he'd sink like a lead balloon.

Trump is a smarmy Ivy Leaguer too. And a golden spoon prep schooler to boot. Quit trying to portray Trump as some kind of man-of-the-people. He’s an elitist Manhattanite.

Good. These are not debates. They are just a way to insult the candidates and the viewers.

Another great decision by Trump.
