I am, says Erick Erickson, and he's not alone. One of the chief coping mechanisms from righties on social media this weekend upon surveying the destruction in South Carolina was to swear they'll never be a Trumpist, even if the heavens fall. I believe Erickson, but I'd also bet cash money that 90 percent of the people saying "HELL NO NEVER HAPPEN" today will grudgingly come around over the next eight months upon being reminded, not on a daily but on an hourly basis, that Hillary Clinton is a pathological liar who'd be in prison if not for her status as the creme de la creme of Washington's elites.
I'm not saying conservative revulsion at Trump isn't real. It is, and I think when it all shakes out in November that Trump will have seen more Republicans stay home for him than stayed home for either Romney or McCain. But I don't think there'll be a third party and I also don't think that some sliver of conservatives staying home will doom Trump's candidacy. Given Hillary's weakness and his own appeal to independents and Reagan Democrats, it's possible that he'd find the votes he needs to win in the center. That would be the final indignity to the conservative movement after having its impotence laid bare for more than a year -- staging a mass boycott of Trump on election day and discovering that Trump can win anyway...

It’s sickening to see GOP voters fall for the Trump hype just like the Dem voters fell for the Obama hype. “Make America Great Again” is 2016’s version of “Hope and Change”.
That said, if he is the nominee, I will hold my nose and vote for him as a vote against socialism.
I too am done holding my nose. I will write a candidate in if need be
I held signs for Trump this past weekend. It was at a busy intersection south of Cleveland. We got positive response from blacks and other minorities passing by. A group of Hispanics came by who were planning Trump events in their inner city communities.
What's my point? Those are Trump voters. Romney didn't even try to get them to vote for him.
I have voted for these Republicans:
Nixon
Ford
Reagan
Reagan
Bush
Bush
Dole
Bush
Bush
McCain
Romney
Why would I ever vote for a recent convert to the Republican Party who would likely leave the Party if he doesn’t get his way.
MAKE NO MISTAKE: I do not associate with the Republican Party. I held my nose in the last two presidential elections. I donate nothing to the RNC, its PACs, or the RPV. I let them know 10 years ago to remove me from their membership lists. I have nothing to do with the Republican Party.
Many good people stayed home 4 years ago.
Trump’s support comes from the center. I’m not in the center. Trump’s support come from prime time, reality TV, amoral, bandwagon mounters. I’m none of that. Trump is the populist candidate. I don’t join the crowd - just because there’s a crowd.
Will I vote for Trump?
It is a personal sacrifice that would be too great.
God help us.
I’m with you.
If, after becoming President, Donald Trump makes the SAME CHOICES as Hillary or Bernie, or at least , as you say goes that direction just a bit slower paced... we will still go down as a country, just not as fast.
I do not see DT making choices but only that please HIM.. he is a controller and a narcissist and I feel he is dangerous too.
Is their anybody he could select as a running mate that would get you onboard with President Trump?
Not me. I vote for the non leftist.
LOL! Thanks for the ping! :)
Some folks like to whine w/o ever having to prove anything except that they can help the Left continue to shove it up our collective arses and then pontificate about how they had no choice......
For example, Trump can simply start talking up Ted Cruz as the logical successor to Scala's Conservative leadership on the Supreme Court.
This anger at the winners is a normal part of the primary process. As the losing teams starts to realize they are losing, they go through the 5 stages of grief.
The five stages, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one we lost.
I do not want Hillary in the White House again! I’ll vote for whomever opposes her!
Anyone but Hillary.
I have heard this before...replace 'trump' with 'romney' (or 'mccain') and 'hillary' with 'obama'. It didn't happen...but everyone is saying this time it will happen. This time, the New England liberal will win. How many more times do you think we will fall for it? Lather. Rinse. Repeat...
That makes sense (and I feel the same way).
Gotta get some caffeine before I start reading in the mornings....
It’s an uphill battle, and I think the democrat is most likely to win no matter who the GOP nominee is, but I will of course vote for Donald Trump.
Voting for the others is a bit more of a challenge for me. Let me ponder that one.
I never sit out an election. I always vote for the Republican nominee for POTUS, even if I have to hold my nose.
‘The Ruling Class will crown their Dear Leader. All of this is just for show, so you plebes don’t get visions of uprising in your heads because the narrative is - ‘this is how Democracy works’.
Understand your disillusion, but the ‘gloom and doom’ and ‘give-up before you try’ is self-fulfilling!
How about trying to think outside the box -
True, they have voter fraud and many other dirty tricks to try to ‘fix’ the election results, but that is only when we are divided, don’t have the resolve and determination, and don’t act strategically -
Voting is still the most powerful tool we have!! If only we all
* unite,
* forget about all the gloom and doom,
* rise above the ‘defeatist’ attitude,
* unite behind the candidate (nominee) that the
establishment, the democrats and the media don’t want,
* vote en mass, to overcome their voter fraud and any other
tricks,
* vote in someone they don’t want! Even Trump!
Our goal is -
if anything, just to show them we do have more ‘power’ and resolve to topple their agendas!
This new president that the GOPe, democrats and media don’t want, will have to answer to the massive number of voters who voted him in!
We can then hope and try to bring about changes for the better.
We cannot and should not let them defeat us! Fight strategically. Drastic times call for drastic measures!
Can anyone be worse than obola, or hillbilly or Sanders?
Defeat anyone they choose, even if we don’t all get the one we want.
Got to admit, even McCain, or Romney, would have been better than obola - we would not be the laughing stock of the world, we would have been safer against the terrorists....
So VOTE, in the primary, in the General, for Trump, just to show them we can choose our president!
If you vote for Cruz, beware that the RATS and media WILL attack his ineligibility and put our next nightmare hillbilly into the WH!
I agree. I like Cruz, but damned if I let a deadbeat communist or the most corrupt politician in my lifetime become president because I got my feelings hurt when my guy didn’t win. Cruz, Rubio, Trump, Carson, probably even Kasich, are all quite possible better candidates than we’ve had in the last two elections.
I, for one, is not in the center, dislike reality shows, don’t jump on bandwagons....
Sure, you must have reasons to not choose Trump, but do not claim that you know who the Trump supporters are.
