Ten Thousand Demand Chris Matthews’ Suspension, MSNBC Silent

A MoveOn.org petition demanding that MSNBC suspend "Hardball" host Chris Matthews has garnered just under 10,000 signatures, even as the network has refused to address what Huffington Post called a "clear conflict of interest."

The petition began in response to outrage over Matthews' "constant shilling for Hillary Clinton." The number of petition signees has almost tripled in size since The Daily Caller reported that Hillary Clinton's biggest donors are bankrolling the congressional campaign of Matthews' wife, Kathleen.

One woman who signed the petition said was "crying thinking 'my' media source is so biased." Another petitioner called Matthews' behavior an "egregious" conflict of interest. One man wrote: "I won't be watching 'Hardball' any more, but MSNBC doesn't care." Many other signees added that they would no longer be watching MSNBC, citing Matthews' "conflict of interest."

The MoveOn.org domain name was registered on September 18, 1998 by computer entrepreneurs Joan Blades and Wes Boyd, the married cofounders of Berkeley Systems, an entertainment software company known for the flying toaster screen saver and the popular video game series You Don’t Know Jack. After selling the company in 1997, Blades and Boyd became concerned about the level of “partisan warfare in Washington” following revelations of President Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky. The MoveOn website was launched initially to oppose the Republican-led effort to impeach Clinton. Initially called “Censure and Move On,” it invited visitors to add their names to an online petition stating that “Congress must Immediately Censure President Clinton and Move On to pressing issues facing the country.”

I see no evidence to support that, though he is clearly tied into it now. Looking for his ties I came across The Progressive Movement is a PR Front for Rich Democrats from a 2013 article by John Stauber at counterpunch website. Interesting read that ties in a lot of the players.
