Don-o's Mama, my mother-in-law, Irene, who just celebrated her 90th birthday, happy, healthy, with all the family, was found unresponsive at home following a probable cardiac arrest. She was rushed to the hospital this afternoon and put on a ventilator, but her prognosis is extremely poor. Sometime rather soon--- maybe it's a matter of hours, though only God knows --- we expect she will pass from this life to the next.
I will post more later, because dear Mama deserves to be better known and loved, and I want to share what she has meant to me. Briefly, she is one of the Pure of Heart. And she will see God.
For now: your prayers for our dear Mama Irene are requested. All things are in the hands of Our Good Lord, Whom she has loved all her life --- and Who will, we pray, have mercy on her, fill her with His loving-kindness, free her from every trace of sin and sorrow, and make her glorious in His Kingdom.
You have my best hopes and wishes.

My MIL is 93 and she has lost several childhood friends in the last month. It is difficult to let go, but 90 is a great run.

My prayers go up for your beloved mother. I am for now blessed that my own is still with us. They are both of similar age on this Earth.
We who have accepted the salvation of Jesus know that a divine destination awaits, for us and for our loved ones.

Such people in our lives are honestly the greatest blessing God can provide, outside of life and knowing His Son.
We are never guaranteed anything, but to have been loved and cherished by a godly person, and to have been able to do likewise in return, is absolutely priceless. Money, health, comfort, and so much more, is worth so much less.
We will keep her and your family in our prayers.
I am saddened for the tragic nature of the situation.

Father God,
We praise You, Author of all creation, and of each of our lives from conception onward;
Be with Mama Irene, we pray, in constant communion with her soul as she navigates this illness;
Be with her devoted family, whose lives she enriches;
Be with her medical caregivers, Lord, we pray.
Remove all pain and let there be only encouragement, serenity and peace surrounding her as she makes her way along this path;
Let no obstacle keep her from awareness of You and Your beneficent power to transcend all conditions and appearances to manifest Your will in her life.
She is Your humble servant, and has loved You for many decades — an example to the generations of her family, friends and co-parishioners.
In this challenge may she remain an example of Your grace and glory.
