Supernatural Experiences (Vanity)
me | 2/2/16 | lafroste

Posted on 02/02/2016 7:42:55 PM PST by lafroste

This may be a little out there, and I am the first to admit that it is late, and I am a little tired, so please be kind. I want to ask any other freepers if they have ever had real supernatural experiences. I ask because I have been subjected to dozens of them. I sometimes think that I am living in a caricature of this world. I want to know if any others have gone through this.

First off, my originating experiences (ie. experienced by me directly) are pretty lame. But there have been a bunch of them. They are mostly confined to virtually impossible acts (such as passing my hand over and hitting random keys of a computer keyboard and entering the correct 10 character security code, or transmitting thoughts directly into my intended audience- to hilarious results). However, I have been fated to know other people with, frankly, extraordinary abilities.

One was my first wife. Her grandmother (who practiced Santeria and kept chicken feet in a glass of water under the bed to ward off evil spirits) always said that all she wanted was to see (my wife) get married. She made a 3,000 mile bus trip, went to our wedding, and was dead less than 12 hours after the wedding. But that is not the weird part. The weird part was that at the moment of my wife's grandmother's death, my wife, who was 400 miles away, woke up from a dead sleep (our wedding night) and started screaming and sobbing and carrying on in a language I did not know. I calmed her as best I could, and told her I would phone home in the morning (it was the middle of the night).

I called my father the next morning, and he reluctantly told me that the grandmother had passed the night before at the exact time my new wife woke up and went crazy.

Fast forward 20 years. My now ex-first wife called me up out of the blue (I hadn't spoken to her in at least 5 years at that point) and told me that my mom had just passed. She told me of a vision of hope and joy, but I was baffled by it all. The next morning I received calls from relatives that my mom in fact had died just when the ex told me she had.I have had several other acquaintances who also have demonstrated extraordinary abilities. I really ought to write a book about all of them.

Here is my question: I cannot be the only person who has experienced phenomena like this. From resurrections to deer inhabited by the spirits of the departed to jokes that transcend humor, surely other people have seen these things. So, i am asking for your stories. That we live in a supernatural world is, to me, undeniable.

“with a different spacetime coordinate system.”

Well, God is all-seeing and can see everything at any time. So it might be that isn’t something that is only obtainable by God, but that it just IS, and He has the power to tap into it? And every so office us mortals also can tap into a little bit of it? I don’t know. But most definitly there is a “supernatural” spiritual world. And sometimes it gets real close.

I’ve read where visits from loved ones may not be from God, but is Satan trying to trick us somehow. But I’m not sure about that. Heck - even Jesus believed in ghosts! “What you think I’m a ghost!? Stick your finger in the holes in my hands!”

There are a vouple of 'using another coordinate system' events of Jesus in the Bible, but the most obvious are ones regarding His resurrection and events following. When Jesus left the tomb, He went to a different coordinate system, without rolling away the stone -that was rolled away later, by the angel so the women could see into the tomb.

An Angel told Philip to go down to a location a few miles from where he was working. He walked there and the meeting with the Ethiopian Eunuch occurred. Then Philip was taken immediately away to a location ~26 miles away, without having to walk it.

The Bible gives major hints.

Here are two more neat ones from the OT.

A young man in the school for prophets(?) was cutting a tree and the iron axehead flew off and into the river. The Prophet cut a branch from a particular tree and stuck it into the river where the boy said the axe sank, and the iron axehead floated to the surface so the boy could pluck it out.

The Prophet and his understudy were being pursued by a band of soldiers and while they slept in a small dwelling they were surrounded by the soldiers who then set up camp to wait for morning to take them prisoners. The apprentice awoke early and saw the soldiers' camped and rushed in a panic to the Prophet. The Prophet prayed to God to have the apprentice's eye opened to see the army protecting them from the soldiers. A vast array of camped soldiers were then visible on the hilltops surround the little valley they were all in. By daylight the soldiers who had encircled the Prophet had runaway to escape the army camped on the hilltops.

Are you a Christian? I recommend it...

Paul said to test the spirits, if they will confess that Jesus is Lord, they’re the good kind.

There’s more. Don’t have time, too tired.

When I’m praying, sometimes, I get answers, usually in the form of a bible verse.

Again, too late, tired. Good night, may post more tomorrow.

I had a quite similar experience the night my dad passed away. I was at home, sleeping on the couch after leaving his bedside at 2:00 a.m. to get home to finish some work for a client before the inevitable. At 5:21 I was awakened by what I can only term a wave of energy that went through the house. It also woke my wife, son and 2 dogs. I got up, walked to the kitchen and had my hand on the receiver 4 or 5 seconds before the phone rang with my brother calling to tell me my dad had passed.

I had a cat, she was a year old.
I was up late one night doing stuff and she was in my face all the time. She’d just intently stare at me, where ever I turned, there she was, just staring. It was a bit creepy. By 2:30 am, I realized there was no cat food in the house. Off to the all night convenience store I drive with my dog in the back seat. On the ride back home, it was foggy. What a perfect time to figure out how the fog lights work in the car. So I’m playing with the lights turning them on and off when I see a small black shadow cross the road going from the left side to the center in front of me. I slow down. A few miles later I finally turn unto my road, and as I’m backing into my driveway, I see a small fiery “thing” crossing the road from the center to the left side. It was about a hundred feet away, at the edge of my property. As I witness this, without thinking, I say to my dog, “I wonder why Maya is not coming home”. Thought nothing more of that.

I put some cat food in Maya’s bowl and went to sleep.
The next day, I noticed the cat food was untouched. I started calling her and then went searching for her. I found her body exactly across the street where I had seen the fiery “thing”

I always wondered if that was her spirit.
Also, I couldn’t figure out how she got out of the house.

When my grandfather passed away, in a rehab hospital where he’d been for months, nothing was urgent about his condition, my grandmother was on a brief respite evening out to a classical music concert with a friend. During the concert she suddenly burst into tears and told her friend, “Max is gone.” My grandfather had died at that exact time.

I once babysat for a neglected and abused toddler, for free, just to give her some love. Her mother was a drug addict and not allowed even visitation. Her father had custody but he was a piece of work. Once he was passed out drunk and the baby was asleep when somehow he left something on or burning and a fire had started in their apartment. The mother, out and about in her drugged condition in town, suddenly KNEW her baby was in danger and called the neighbors of the dad and they saw the smoke and called the fire dept.

There is information floating around that we often can’t sense but it is there.

A college ex-girlfriend got in touch with me a couple years after I graduated and we struck up a phone friendship. She had gotten herself into a terrible, abusive marriage at a young age. I didn’t hear from her for a couple months and finally gave her a call. I learned she had drowned when her car went into a river the day before Christmas.

A half year later I was driving an almost-brand new car through her hometown and I stopped at the cemetery to pay respects and leave flowers. As I was leaving town shortly thereafter, I got onto the interstate on-ramp and my car refused to accelerate past 20 mph. I tried several times, but had the same experience each time — the car wasn’t going to let me leave town. I took the car to the shop where they changed the fuel filter and car performance was back to normal.

I’ve always wondered how and why a nearly new car could get a clogged fuel filter at that precise moment after visiting my dear friend’s grave. I didn’t hear voices, no apparitions, no visions — nothing eerie like that. Just a car that wouldn’t let me leave my friend’s town. And that car never gave me a moment’s trouble after that experience, either.

That’s the only other-worldly thing that’s happened to me, but that one event 40 years ago is still enough to give me shivers as I write about it.

The closest thing that I’ve ever had to a supernatural experience was that we discovered the initials MB written in dust on the pendant light in the master bedroom. There was a large plant underneath it & we discovered it when I went to change the bulb & dust the fixture. We puzzled over this for a few weeks & I finally started digging around. Our house was on property that had once been the Bleumel Ranch. There had been a Mary Bluemel in that family. No idea if there’s a connection, though.

There are 2 maybes. Our late QP (Kewpie) used to look down the ‘back’ hall of that house last thing before we went to bed. We wondered, after finding the initials on the light, if we might have a house wight- but there was never any other indication.

Unrelated. The last 3 or 4 months of Mia’s life, there was an unfamiliar floral smell in the bedroom at night. Or it could have been perfume. I noticed a few weeks after she was gone that the fragrance hadn’t happened again since.

Similar to a well authenticated anecdote from the family of Henry Clay. Clay, as a Whig leader but with presidential ambitions, felt the need to do the spraddle on the Mexican War. He technically opposed it but voted for all supply bills and saw to it that his eldest son joined the Kentucky Volunteers. Months later Clay's daughter who had been very close to her brother saw him clearly at the foot of her bed. He called her name and said, ‘I am slain’. The young woman presented the signs of a heart attack and said there was a burning pain in her left chest. She died in a few hours. Clay's grief was greatly magnified when about two weeks later a special messenger brought word of his son's death at the Battle of Buena Vista. He was run down and killed by a Mexican lancer, who fatally wounded him in the left breast. Later members of the Clay household spoke to officers who were present and calculated the time of the young man's death to be about the same time his sister was struck down.

My ex wife’s grandparents always used to claim their house was haunted. They were old and I never knew how serious to take them.

After they both passed away my wife and I took the kids to their house for a weekend to help my mother in-law clean the place out and get it ready to sell.

We got there late on a Friday night, I was exhausted from working all day and the long ride to get there. The sleeper bed in the living room was all ready for me so I laid down to relax. My eyelids became heavy and as my eyes started to close I could see a shadow figure of a man walk from the kitchen into the living room and walk up to the foot of the bed. It stood there looking at me. I felt frozen and my eyelids were so heavy I couldn’t open them all the way for a minute or so. Suddenly I opened my eyes and he was gone.

That was over twenty years ago and ever since then that same shadow figure visits me from time to time during the night. I’ll wake up to find him beside the bed looking down at me. I’d feel frozen, my eyelids so heavy that I can only open my eyes just enough to see. When I’m finally able to open my eyes all the way it will be gone.

Sometimes I would wake up during the night to find myself laughing at it and trying to scare it away. The last time it happened, I yelled at it and threatened it. That was a few years ago and it hasn’t happened since.

Creepy huh, but I can’t be crazy because I’m not a liberal!

Our cat that my wife had before we married finally passed away at an old age. We gathered the kids around and buried it out in the backyard with a little service. I bet it wasn’t more than a week later I saw a black cat in our yard back by the little burial.

Never had a cat back in the fenced yard before (12 years). Raccoons and oppusums and squirrels, but never a cat. I showed my wife and she went out and the cat jumped up the fence and ran away. A few days later it was in the front yard with my wife watching the kids. My wife got some milk. It drank it after they all left.

After about a week of that the cat adopted us. 10 years later have never seen another cat in our backyard!

Interesting thread, thanks for posting!

I’ve not personally had too many paranormal experiences, but as a child I had several precognitive dreams. Never any major events, but I would suddenly recognize the current scene as exactly matching the dream from days earlier.

I think something happens when cats pass away. They tell other cats where there’s a special good home available :-)

Great research done by Princeton and Stanford on these subjects

See P.E.A.R.

http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Princeton+Engineering+Anomalies+Research

Also see work done by Stanford Research Institute on “Mon local consciousness”

25 years of well documented study on many associated subjects.

Other comments on space time relations to consciousness are also worthy subjects to read on.

I have followed the field for almost 50 years. A lot of hocus pocus out there but well documented scientific study has done a good job of proving there is something going on just not exactly what it is.

Hard to read on the subject and not believe man has a soul

My cousin dies at age 29 in a horrible auto accident. His mother, my aunt, was devastated.

About a week after the funeral, my aunt, who had been desperate for a sign that he was okay, was on her front porch repotting plants from his funeral. It was mid-August in the Houston area, an extremely hot, still day. Suddenly the very large and heavy chimes that my cousin had given her a few years before began ringing like crazy, with absolutely no breeze to cause the ringing. It went on for about a minute then stopped just as suddenly as it had begun.

Two to three years old.

As a child, at night, at Christmas-time, while resting my head on the cool door of a car as my parents had the heat turned up to 11, I spied a choir of angels singing in the clouds “Glory to God the most Highest and on Earth, Peace and Goodwill to men.”

The most beautiful singing I’ve ever heard.

At a party, when my sister-in-law’s mother was going thru diabetic shock, I heard the tinkling of chimes, and the feeling of being in a different space, until she came out of it. That feeling is rare, very noticeable, and consistent with something very special occuring.

Finally, the afternoon before my mother’s aortic aneurysm surgery, as I was leaving to help move my things to my new home, the sunlight was streaming through the window in her room. She appear to be somewhat transparent in the sunlight, but I thought at the time my eyes were playing tricks on me. She died on the table the next day.

Life and death literally are a veil apart. I’ve noted that ‘chime space’ several times in my life, but always after seeming to wake from enthrallment or from a waking dream.

Thank for the post.
