Big difference between liberals and Conservatives, we don’t go in for group think. Unlike the Left, Conservatives don’t look to a “Conservative Establishment” to tell us what we should do or think.
Conservatives are the Blacks on the GOP plantation.
For decades we have shook our heads wondering why blacks line up to vote for the Dims decade after decade despite the utter destruction the Dims have brought to their community.
Trump has made many of them realize Conservatives are the Blacks of the GOP plantation. We line up year after year, sacrifice our time and money, and what do we get? A GOP political machine this is virtually identical to the Dims who comes around every 2 years saying “If you just give us this, everything will be awesome.”
Ask yourself this. Despite giving the entire Government to the GOP under Bush, was any item on the Conservative agenda advanced?
Sadly the answer is NO. And what many of us are realizing is the tools of the Conservative establishment i.e. National Review, Town-hall, Heritage Foundation, Club for Growth, Weekly Standard, Fox News, etc are the GOP equivalents of the “Civil Rights Leaders” that keep Blacks on the Democrat’s plantation. They all like to posture as “Anti Establishment” but all make their money by keeping “politics as usual” running in DC. Well new for the “Conservative” Media Establishment Like National Review, Eric Erickson, Bill Kristol, Fox News etc., time to get out of your media bubble worlds, stop with your ivory tower theorizing and try seeing what life is like for us out here in “fly over” land.
Cruz is just the latest red herring of this “keep the Conservatives on the plantation” stick. Cruz does not have the ability to go over the heads of the political/media/business machine and get the American people behind him. Cruz will mouth all the right slogans and do nothing but what the Political/Media/Business machine tells him to do. If he oppose them, he will be tied up with phony media manufactured scandals and a uniformly hostile Congressional Leadership until he knuckles under in desperation to build SOMETHING for his “legacy”
You are going to have to tear down the DC Political/Business/Media machine before it can be rebuilt. Trump can do that, Cruz cannot. The national body politic needs radical chemotherapy, not a tummy tuck, a nose job and some Botox injections.
Well, said.
Then why is the GOPe lining up to support Trump instead of Cruz?
Yours is a thoughtful response. Well done.
Great response.
Precisely. Well written !
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well said
yes, the Conservative establishment has been ineffective and your analog is useful. Thanks
Excellent! I love the analogy.
I fail to see how that is an improvement.
My logic for voting for Trump in the general election is at the least, he'll give ws better Court nominees than would the Dems. But then again, he did just start quoting Lawrence Tribe, so i guess you never know....
To quote Mr. Burns from the Simpsons....Excellent.
Go Trump
This is exactly right. I've been using this same analogy for over a year, ever since the complete sellout of conservatives became obvious after the last election.
I agree with your entire post...Trump is the only guy running who has a shot at making a real difference in Washington. I know that he's probably going to take some positions as President that will give me agida, but I also know that he will put America first and fight for this country. Trump's not saying anything new about his fundamental policy positions. Read any of his books, or look at his video's from decades ago. He was saying the same things then and he was right. He's got my full support.
I don’t necessarily disagree with the premise of your argument, but I would submit that, since NONE of the establishment candidates are at the top of GOP polls anywhere, conservatives are fleeing the GOP plantation in droves.
To paraphrase a bit, I agree that there is no monolithic conservative movement, per se. Like the tea party movement itself, conservativism includes - or should include - conservatives of all stripes who are fed up with the role of government, media, academia and law, i.e., progressivism, in destroying our country and intruding on absolutely every aspect of our lives.
I agree with the fact that Cruz may not be able to unite conservatives of all stripes and that Trump may be able to unite not only conservatives, but a helluva lot of moderates and a pretty decent number of Democrats. I do not, however, agree with the fact that Cruz is the latest version of Dole/McCain/Romney and a stalking horse for the establishment. There isn’t one shred of evidence that he has any support within the GOP establishment, whereas Trump is (apparently) gaining the support of at least some establishment politicians who absolutely hate Ted Cruz.
Great post.
almost perfect...
one problem:
“Cruz will mouth all the right slogans and do nothing but what the Political/Media/Business machine tells him to do.”
CRUZ? Maybe Rubio... but NOT CRUZ.
Cruz has never done anything to deserve that. Cruz will fight the machine will all he has....he has shown that....but he just doesn’t have the gifts that Trump does. If Cruz were to win the Rep nomination, he would have to face not just Dems demonizing him the - the way Hillary is demonized to us- but also the entire media doing the same to him....he just doesn’t have the charisma and media pizazz that trump has to overcome that kind of mass bulldozing.
But please- don’t undo all your legitimate points by including a lie about Cruz...
You are going to have to tear down the DC Political/Business/Media machine before it can be rebuilt. Trump can do that, Cruz cannot. The national body politic needs radical chemotherapy, not a tummy tuck, a nose job and some Botox injections.

Awesome post!
Trump has revealed to us something about ourselves (as mentioned in your post) that we have been in a state of “hoping for change”. Trump has shown his supporters about the power of the electorate when energized and inspired by a leader.
Trump has exposed the great American deception of controlled opposition in the “conservatives” involved in the NRO effort to stop Trump.
The controlled opposition including talk radio hosts, have told voters time and again, “well maybe next time”, and pulled the football away in Lucy-like fashion.
In the following Trump interview from 2012, Trump says this country needs major surgery. Trump was asked about running for president, to “lead the way”. Trump said he hopes someone else would emerge as a leader.
Of those who signed on to the manifesto, did they step up? Trump DID step up!
