If you were a citizen at the time of the adoption of the constitution you didn't have to be natural born.

I thought Cruz was supposed to be a defender of the constitution. Why are his supporters coming up with all of these frivolous arguments to defend his ineligibility?

As you pointed out, this one's really ill-informed. If anything, it supports the case against Cruz. When he was born in Canada, wouldn't he have been given first a Canadian birth certificate when he was born? And with a Cuban father and a Canadian birthplace, wouldn't there have to have been a process to prove his eligibility for US citizenship?

If it's a matter of "which came first", Cruz loses that lottery, I'd think....but that's opinion. Someone's got to sort it out.
