It is more than an open secret that the Republican Establishment so hates Ted Cruz that they are more and more openly rooting for Donald Trump to win Iowa.
I just got todayâs Hotline from National Journal. It is behind a pay wall, but it is worth noting their top story confirms what I have been seeing and hearing.
The Establishment thinking is that if Trump beats Cruz in Iowa, they can then beat Trump with Rubio, Bush, or Christie.
But that is horse manure and if they were not all incompetent morons they would know it. These guys have not made a dent in Trumpâs popularity. The only guys who has is named Ted Cruz, and he has done it by being humorous and kind to Trump.

Pete Rose, whatever else he did, never bet against his own team.
I feel sorry for him. I grew up in the era of greats.
In the late 60’s my #1 book was that of Lou Gehrig.
Rose seems to be far off the pickled eels of sincerity.
Are you sure you're not thinking of Hugh Hewitt?
Erickson occasionally fills in for Rush. (Let's just say that he's better to listen to than Mark Belling.) Is Rush GOPe too?
But if your contention that "Erick Erickson is the GOPe" is true, then he would definitely know what they're thinking, wouldn't he?
Thus, your contention, if tru, would prove the story true.
If h were smart, he’d go to gambling rehab.
He will not make the hall.
He cheated for many years thinking he was above scrutiny.
My baseball players never did.
Very talented yes. Cheater as well. Go home.
Sore cruzermans look to POS RINO Erickson for moral support. :-)
There have been no actual votes. I hate to burst the bubble of imagination but one can not be a sore loser before the game has even been played.
Flawed thinking by GOPe again. If Trump takes Iowa, he runs the table.
More agitprop. Take a few aspirin, I hear it reduces the effects of TDS.
Cruz as VP shores up the Christian voters who dont like Trumps brashness and have been supporting Cruz or Carson.
With Cruz, nothing changes. He has no cross over appeal. Cannot create a new broad political base. It would be like if Huckabee or Rick Santorum won.
Sorry, Cruz has beltway stink on him. For every voter he turns on to Trump he will lose two. Trump is not going to pick a VP from the beltway. His whole campaign is running against it. Why would he pick a Harvard educated career politician and beltway careerist? Makes no sense.
I don’t know about you guys, but it seems to me that another possibility is that the GOPe has discovered just how easy it is to manipulate both the Trumpeteers and Cruzers into going for each others throats.
Is that too far fetched?
Erickson was a gigantic Jeb/Rubio buttboy and he hasn’t subbed for Rush since Trump overpowered Jeb last summer. He has been attacking Trump non stop since July.
Everything Erickson says is designed to hurt Trump and support the GOPe position.
While I have had a great time this primary season watching all this, I think the base is going to get burned....again.
No, they are thinking they can work with him. He is a New York businessman who hangs around the elite and dems.....they can work with that. He has made it this far on illegals, islam and guns.....no one on here knows what he stands for beyond those 3 points.
As stated by others, Erickson is a long time Trump hater.
It wasn’t Trump who wrote a bill to massively increase H-1B visa program. It was Cruz. Why would K Street roll the dice on Trump when it is proven that Cruz will give the donor class the goods on the big issues they care about: “free” trade and immigration. K Street knows they they can stuff POTUS Cruz on his Socon issues because there simply isn’t the support in the rank & file GOP to defund PP, etc. The GOPe will always prefer a career politician like Cruz to a bomb throwing wild card like Trump.
Rooting? Don’t kid yourself.
It would be nice to be surprised about Trump because I do think he will win the primaries but I have never seen a Republican from NY be worth anything in Washington. They always are rinos in the end especially on social and tax issues. Who will Trump pick as VP? That will be the first let down I bet. No, I think Trump will fit in with the GOPe eventually.
My point is that everyone so excited about Trump know nothing about how he stands on any issue but 3 and you did not change my mind. How many times have we republicans had candidates run as conservatives and have soundbites we all cheer for, then only be let down because they are rinos when leading. Nobody is asking the right questions or caring because the "bomb throwing" Trump has great comebacks to deal with the people we can not stand like the media, dems and rinos. How long have we been waiting for someone to stand up to them? It is exciting, it is fun but it does not change the fact the base does not know him on many issues that truly matter. I think we are all in for huge disappointment in the end, I just massively wish I am wrong.
