The left will do anything to abolish the private ownership of firearms. And the emphasis is on anything. After all, politicians cannot safely exercise absolute, uncontested authority over an armed public.
And the majority of our nationâs ruling classâyes, Republicans includedâyearn for such power; in part because it will bring an end to those annoying constitutional rights which prevent lawmakers implementing what they âknow to be best,â but mostly because these self-infatuated mirror-gazers believe dictatorial authority to be their due.
The question is, how can it be accomplished? How can more than 300 million firearms be separated from an estimated 100 million owners?
With some it will be easy. When Connecticut passed into law its knee-jerk response to the 2012, Newtown murders, some 50,000 âAssault Weaponâ owners dashed to the nearest police station, eager to be among the first to sign away their freedom by registering their rifles with Governor Malloy. Courageous custodians of liberty such as these will be a snap to deal with when it comes time to confiscate their-or more properly, the Stateâs-property.
But what of the estimated 300,000-400,000 Constitution State owners of black rifles who refuse to play toadie to a would-be monarch? How can Big Brother intimidate these or other American gun ownersâfor example the estimated 1 million New Yorkers who have defied the stateâs Safe Actâ into registering their firearms so that the coming end-game of confiscation might be facilitated? Isnât the outright use of force likely to result in that shooting war weâve heard so much about?
Well, not if a majority of gun owning Americans follow the example set by âAssault Weaponâ owners in Maryland and Virginia.
During the 2002 killing spree by the âD.C. Snipers,â police recovered .223 caliber shellâ¦.

I’m thinking the used small rowboat market will explode.
Lots of boating accidents forecast
Read the whole article, it’s chilling.
How many of us who answer the door with a uniformed cop demanding compliance or submission when we’ve done nothing wrong, are going to look Mr. Big Bad Cop in the eye and say, “Come back with a warrant!”?
“Of all the gun owners contacted by police [during the DC Sniper incident], fewer than 3% refused to hand over their firearms. When officers decided to use a little “we’ll get a court order” intimidation, these owners said go right ahead. According to the article, no court orders were obtained. Not one.”
Storm Mountain shooting school was approached with a demand for their entire “sniper classes” roster. The owner said no.
These days I would, no problem. Due to other circumstances, I had to put up a security system that has both video and audio recording capabilities. The A/V spools locally and streams to the cloud. Previous to, I simply would not have answered the door.
Me.
If it looks like confiscation is nearing, bury most of them in sealed PVC tubes; also bury a sh*t-ton of metal cans scattered in the yard and woods. (Good luck, with a metal detector).
Then file a police report about stolen guns.
Then, if you want to rub their noses in it, go to Kinko’s and print out about 10,000 copies of the manual that tells you how to build a fully-automatic Sten gun, and give a free copy to every “gangsta” on a street corner. (admittedly this is irresponsible, but a sudden surge in Sten gun drive-bys would make a point)
Even in new York, I'm shocked the number is that high...
I wouldn't think people who are inclined to buy an AR pattern rifle would be inclined to go register them.
But, oh - in New York, if they were bought at a gun store they're already registered, and the state Gestapo will have no trouble tracking them down.
It's those pesky F2F sales that remain undeclared, as it should be.
Home security systems with audio/visual may become the CCWs of the near future.
Bad guys don’t know who’s packing and are deterred.
If bad cops don’t know who’s recording they may be deterred at the front door.
When bad cops DO know who’s recording they tend to become extremely violent.
If the latter seems harsh, consider what Jeff Cooper said in 1994 to “Guns and Ammo” magazine:
“no more than five to ten people in a hundred who die by gunfire in Los Angeles are any loss to society. These people fight small wars amongst themselves. It would seem a valid social service to keep them well-supplied with ammunition.”
“...are going to look Mr. Big Bad Cop in the eye and say, âCome back with a warrant!â?...”
I’ll just be polite and firmly insistent, keeping a pleasant smile on my face and say, “No sir, as a personal rule, I make it a point never to voluntarily submit to an ad-hoc, warrantless search. But I will submit to a valid search warrant issued by the court upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.. Now if there is no other official business, I’m rather busy and need to get back to work. Am I free to resume my day?”
I rather doubt it will come to that with our current local law enforcement. If anything, our local law enforcement would intentionally balk at the suggestion they go door to door rounding up weapons. The world needs more calm, level-headed, professional Andy Griffiths and fewer knee-jerking, hot-headed, rule-mongering Barney Fifes and we are fortunately blessed with an abundance of the former.
If you have to bury them you better be using them.
Here’s what happens when you just hide them.

Since I live in a gun friendly Southern state, I can share your optimism concerning LEO conduct, generally speaking.
;^)
It may be a little of topic... But when are the Powers That Be going to demand that Copiers and printers, both ink-jet and laser, be regulated or confiscated?
Because it’s certain ideas and philosophies more than firearms that have killed more people world-wide. And those ideas were spread by that technology more than anything else
Thanks. If you have to hide your firearms you can’t use them and you might as well not have them anyway. When things get rough get Bundy tough.
I lived in Southern California in the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s.
Whenever a gang member got killed in Los Angeles, the LAPD would call it an NHI crime.
NHI = No Human Involved.
Thanks for the suggestion.
