RedState's own Leon Wolf did a great job exposing the Politico story about Ben Carson and West Point as a lie. Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel is also churning out great information on Twitter regarding the story.
I want to focus on what Donald Trump is doing with the story, however.
Yesterday, November 5, Donald Trump had this to say about Politico:
Look, Politico is so dishonest in so many different things. This Politico website or whatever the hell they call it, I mean, they write about me. We don't deal with them anymore because the level of dishonesty is incredible.
Today, November 6, Donald Trump is spreading the false Politico story about Ben Carson. Below is one of the several Trump Tweets citing the Politico piece.
What an incredible turnaround. It appears Trump is willing to do whatever it takes to destroy Carson, who is poised to disrupt his position as GOP frontrunner.
Yesterday, Trump seized on the silly CNN investigation of Carson's childhood. According to Trump, Carson's childhood might be a "total fabrication.?
Ironically, much of Trump's support is due to the perception that he tells the truth and shuns the mainstream media. It is now clear that he will abandon that notion when it suits him politically.
Well, if you've gotta be such a purist and stickler for words, then I feel duty-bound to inform you that there is no such military institution that is known simply as West Point.
No, the place that Carson was referring to is technically and legally called The United States Military Academy. The term "West Point" is basically a sort of nickname.
So if it's OK for you and everybody else to refer to the USMA by it's "West Point" nickname, I think it's equally OK for Ben Carson to use such informal terms as "offer" and "scholarship" -- even though these terms might not appear in the USMA's formal lexicon.
Moreover, after Carson's explanation of his meeting with General Westmoreland, you and I and anybody else with half a brain knows exactly what he meant.
Bottom line: Not guilty.
LOVED the book. So jam-packed with so many great ideas (to turn this mess around), expanded explanation of his policies and is laid out nice and concisely.
I read as tho he was saying: “Don’t worry, I got this” and just support him....fabulous read, as all his books have been!!!
What a great man to lead a Great Nation!!!
Since Westmoreland is dead, neither one of us know what Westmoreland
told Carson, do we?
And I highly doubt Westmoreland had the power, or would even do an
end run around admittance standards by “offering” a scholarship upfront.
“I guess Dr Ben and the rest of the candidates/RNC/GOPe have denounced that vile, profanity filled Anchor Baby video about Trump. I may have missed it, if they did.”
You didn’t miss anything, lol, as none of the other Pub candidates,to my knowledge, said diddly squat about this rotten ad. Trump as usual, was out there on his own. Notice he doesn’t complain though; he just fights back. My kind of guy.
It’s not Trump “spreading their Ben Carson lie”, it’s @swargcoming.
In fact pretty much every Tweet the Trump concern trolls are concerned about are sent to Trump by followers, not even re-tweeted by Trump. Kinda like saying someone supports all the messages they get in the junk mail.
Amen, amen!!! My kind of guy, as well.
I’m ready for Trump to fix this mess we’re in, TODAY!! He’s already started several wheels turning - resulting in great changes/dialogue, so he’s already off to a great start :D

Maybe Brian Williams can straighten this whole thing out :D
Ha.
The tweets are identical with no "Trump retweeted".
When doing reviews of so called media exposes (with the editing problem I am refraining from using apostrophes or contractions in my responses) to FRs. Those reviews should contain the names and a still (photo) of the propagandist and the venue used. Which only a handfull of FRs do. Which I wish I could do but because of tech problems can not.
But,what I find disgusting is instead we have FR candidate supporters, mostly Trump chumpions, gleefully using and repeating the lies and miss-representations advanced by media . But never questioning that so called report until of course their sacred mcandidate gets attacked.
When it is the media and their miss informing that should be attacked. followed by asking the the value of their undeclared campaign contribution .
The way I see it is this Red State hit piece on Trump is no different than the Politico hit piece on Carson. So those Carson fans that are jumping with joy over this article are IMHO hypocrites.
Dr Carson is shocked he is now on the receiving end of an anal exam by the media.
I think your point is quite valid. And during the O’Reilly interview, Trump did NOT bring up the West Point issue at all. Trump sure is a very fast learner. One of the few who can think on his feet.
I haven’t kept up with every twist and turn in this saga, RE: Trump vs Carson after the Politico story.
So just a couple of weigh-in points.
Yesterday Mark Levin said he cannot in good faith vote for a candidate who joins the media in trying to destroy Ben Carson. And make no mistake, Levin said, that destruction of Carson in every respect - not merely as a candidate for the GOP nomination - is the Left’s goal.
And here’s linkage to another story that goes to the original, MEDIA ginned up “controversy” about Carson’s personal bio...

Personal note: I’m a strong Ted Cruz supporter.
Oh.....we went to caps now!
I tried to explain what I am talking about and it blew right over your head. You are one who accused me of claiming there was something wrong in the Bible and I did not say that. I simply said that there are researchers who claim that the Egyptian historical timeline for the era of Joseph is wrong and when you correct it, the Biblical account fits exactly with the Egyptian timeline.
I am not a Bible expert, as I explained, and I’m not a archeologist. I cannot defend or deny what these archeologists are doing.
I only mentioned it because you seem to think that Carson has a screw loose regarding the grain storage business and that is just not the case. He must have read some of the same things about this line of research that I have and also found it fascinating.
That’s all.....
That’s what the hell I am talking about...
Only some are...the three Kings at Giza for example. There are many other pyramid structures in the world..
I disagree with global warming as well and it seem 95% of experts disagree with me..
Frankly, I don’t know what to believe or disbelieve here. I only know that it’s not a crackpot opinion and it certainly is not a blanket statement about all pyramids. Any idiot knows that.
Again, it not my field. I only pulled it up off the net to show that reasonable people can come to differing conclusions on ancient history and we are talking about very old history where just about the only written words that have survived time can only be found in the Bible.
The rest is conjecture, but educated conjecture.
I think we have all stipulated to that fact, and Carson said exactly the same thing. It never got past the verbal stage.... It was, You can have it if you want it" and he did not want it. Instead he went to Yale. Not a hard decision for someone who decides a military career is not what they want. You seem to think that the term "offer" has to be in writing. It does not....It never has...If it is, it's called a written offer. The type of offer one sometimes uses in real estate for example...but the only reason the reaestate offer is in writing, is to prevent the buyer from ducking it. Most offers are verbal until accepted and then it codified by contract or whatever. You are making a mountain of a mole hill.
I was not talking to you...
