Just received this from Jay Sekulow at American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ):

"Thank you for your inquiry to the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ). Our legal staff has reviewed the information you sent regarding what actions can be taken. We have determined that the ACLJ is unable to assist you at this time because this matter does not present an issue that the ACLJ can address on your behalf."

"Our area of practice is limited to constitutional law with an emphasis on religious liberties protected within the First Amendment freedoms of speech, assembly, and exercise of religion."

Maybe someone at ACLJ will review the thread periodically and comment. We would welcome that or any comments from major national firms.

I can wholly assure you I am not the former and in regards to the latter, I didn't know an endorsement was needed. Am sending this to JimRob for okay.

I suspect that our only recourse is to use our first amendment rights to ‘petition the government for redress of grievances.’ That means starting a movement to push back on refugee settlement within the states by contacting our representatives, & if necessary having protests in front of state houses. We should insist that Muslim refugees be sent to Muslim countries, not here. Islam is not compatible with western values of liberty and tolerance. Since Christians & other religious minorities are truly in danger in the Mid-East, they would present a different issue.

The response from the ACLJ was disappointing, but it really isn’t their bailiwick. We have to make our representatives understand that WE DO NOT WANT THESE PEOPLE HERE.

If we can somehow 'petition the government for redress of grievances' in Federal Court and at least stay the implementation of the migration, then we could hold off until Jan, 2017.

Portland, Oregon apparently. Thanks for the link. I know it would be nice to stop them through the courts, but the courts rarely respond to what the citizens want. We don’t have ‘standing’. We’re supposed to go through our legislators.

BACKSTORY The 1980 Georgia General Assembly was concerned about the increasing sophistication of various criminal elements on the public payroll (including those in elective and appointive office). The GA Assembly then adopted the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), patterned after a similar federal law.

(RICO is routinely used to try to prove that a legal business was being used for illegal means, and, in at its inception, RICO was used to prosecute drug traffickers or organized crime members).

In recent years prosecutors have applied RICO to crooked government officials: (1) those accused of using their public offices for personal gain, and, (2) tax-paid officials of govt agencies using public monies to flout the law.

To bring a case under Georgias RICO law, there must be at least two underlying felonies such as fraud, bribery, witness tampering (among other felonies).

RICO allows prosecutors to include multiple defendants charged with various crimes in the blanket indictment, and to charge that govt employees, publicly funded and publicly sanctioned entities were allegedly part of an ongoing criminal enterprise.

EXAMPLE A govt official commits two felonies by (1) accepting, and, (2) filing falsified documents.

Any public official using tax dollars to flout that law is a lawbreaker: in cases where govt officials on the public payroll not giving public notice is a violation at the federal level of the 1946 Administrative Procedure Act, which requires notice in the Federal Register. Laws demand that taxpayers have the opportunity to submit views in writing.
