Simple analysis shows Ben Carsonâs support is driven by the White guilt, âWeâll show you weâre not bigots!â crowd.
Carson is a nice and decent human being. He has a soothing way of speaking and makes most of his points when he stays within is narrow field of knowledge. He is Black and a conservative Republican. All of these qualities make him an attractive candidate for a certain segment of the Republican rank and file: The White guilt crowd.
Supporting Carson gives them the chance to congratulate themselves and proclaim, âI am not a bigot. I oppose Barack Obama not because he is Black, but because he is a dangerous Marxist/Socialist.â
While this may sound harsh it is quite supportable.
The latest Gallup survey on which issues are most important to voters finds 33% said the economy.
The latest Rasmussen Report shows 56% of likely Republican primary voters expect Donald Trump to be their eventual nominee.
Without offering a list of names to choose from, a Harris poll found 47% of Republicans think Trump is the best candidate to create jobs. Just 3% say the same about Carson!
What else, but White guilt, âWeâll show you weâre not bigots!â explains 33% saying the economy is their top issue and only 3% saying Carson is the man to fix it translating into 20 â 27% support for him?
A new survey from Arizona shows Trump actually trailing Carson by...

I think many ‘evangelical’ voters will eventually gravitate to Cruz.
Take AL as an example.
Carson is under performing, compared to other state and national polls, in a traditional evangelical state.
Cruz has yet to gain traction there, but my guess is that the ‘SEC’ primaries will cause many to conclude that Cruz must in some way be part of the general campaign, whether he is on the ticket or a presumed cabinet appointee, he will be needed.
I like him. He’s not my first choice, but I like him.
Bingo! We have a winner.
Race card much?
The second networks called it for Obama in 2012
Many posters here were clamouring for a black or Latino candidate in order to win in 2016 or else
This utter self hatred and guilt of the white race establishment and progressives worldwide is the primary reason the civilized world is in decline in such quick fashion and it will take all of the world including Asia down with it
These are the exact same people who refuse to defend against America becoming a non white nation
Thank You
This entire thread is BS
I like Carson Trump and Cruz
It has nothing to do with White guilt
It has to do with Boehner, McConnell and Rinse Pubis
As is often the case with entries from this blog that get posted here all the time, Coach is not right.
I am not a Carson supporter, but the man is brilliant and it’s pretty obvious he is picking up the evangelical vote that Huckabee would have gotten along with a lot of “we want an outsider but not Trump” support.
It appears whoever wrote this simply can’t conceive of the idea that a lot of right of center voters don’t really care for Trump and would rather not vote for him in the primaries.
Here is a “winning” political tactics. Insult people into voting for your candidate.
If you want to take down Carson, you people should get on his side. Your posting tactics are the best one possible to guarantee a “lose” in Politics
Surely the Obama disaster cleared away any possible white “guilt.”
Carson would not win against Hillary.
I know my extended family better than I know anyone else. Most of them are conservative but not at all political.
I like Cruz but I’m the only one, most of them don’t get him because they aren’t into politics. They are, however, fed up with the direction things are going and they loathe politicians. Most of them are excited about Trump and will crawl over broken glass to vote for him. The ones who don’t like him, (because they think he is rude), like Carson. Some of them like Huckabee because he seems like a good guy.
So thats the split among conservative non-politicals. Trump by far number one followed by Carson and Huck just based on the belief that they are moral.
“If Carson were white, thereâs no way anyone would be taking him seriously”
I think being Black is part of the equation but not all of it.
Yup.
I think this dalliance with quasi 9-11 truther nonsense is what helped Carson cut into Trump's lead. Trump should have never gone down that road, he almost sounded like Michael Moore or some InfoWars paulbot lunatic.
The guilt is all on the democrat side.
Conservatives recognize Excellence and principle.
That is incorrect. He was not even a registered Republican until he decided to run for President.
And Conservative? MOST of his views are not conservative. He is a moderate at best who leans rightish on a few things, and who leans left on some very important things.
Now switch to the break room in the workplace. As you walk in there, you see that some of your co-workers are talking about the election and the discussion is getting heated. A couple of brassy loudmouths from Marketing Dept. are dominating the discussion and spouting Democrat talking points, saying "How can you be for a man (Trump) who says that all Mexicans are rapists and killers and who wants to cut welfare so he can take care of veterans?"
One of them sees that you have entered the breakroom and she turns towards you with her hands petulantly placed on her hips and says in her most hostile tone "And who are YOU voting for?"
You stand there frozen like a deer in the headlights. You want to holler back at the snippy broad from Marketing that you are voting for Trump and if she has a problem with that, then too bad. But then you think about your career and maybe that you won't get that promotion or that raise if it gets known in the office that you are one of those "right wing wack jobs."
So you sort of shuffle nervously with eyes downcast and stammer "...Well, I've been taking a serious look at that Ben Carson fellow, I kind of like the way he's always so calm, cool and collected..."
The bitch on wheels from Marketing clearly has the wind knocked out her sails with that unexpected response, after all, no liberal is going to attack you for supporting Ben Carson, so she replies: "Oh, well, yes, I think he's a decent fellow too, it's nice to see that the Republican party seems to be easing up on their war on blacks...", as she takes a sip from her $8 Starbucks double mocha lattina caramel cappuccino.
Anyway, I have a feeling that scenario is occurring all across the country. Ben Carson is providing safe haven for those who really support Trump but aren't brave enough (yet) to come out and say it publicly. Carson is sort of a convenient place for closet Trump supporters to park their vote.
Call it TA (Trump Anonymous) with it's own patented 12-step program.
The article says he is conservative, he is an amnesty shill and gun control advocate which should put that lie to rest.
I am white and have no guilt. Carson is not my 1st choice, but I could live with a Prez Carson. When it comes to blacks, Herman Cain WAS my 1st choice.
Sorry, that was Obama.
