I wouldn’t say they were spooked but rather waiting for the first deer to head out into the middle of the oat field to eat...or maybe winter wheat.

could be anything- I believe those deer are from india? If so could be a tiger spooking them- They could have just caught wind of the photographer too- Deer are very easily spooked-

It doesn’t take much to ‘spook’ herds, be they cattle or horses or buffalo or deer.

A snake.

A cat prowling near.

A feeling/need to run.

It doesn’t take much. Sometimes it is just them being playful. Other time it is the perceived threat of something/someone predatory. Sometimes it is a real threat.
