Trump also promised to cut spending and waste in government, a promise met with skepticism from both hosts. Yet it has been pointed out that just eliminating zero-based budgeting alone, which automatically increases government spending by 6 percent a year, would stop the growth of government spending and the debt trajectory.
Trump implied that there would be cuts in whole departments and business efficiencies brought to procurement and spending. As he put it in previous interviews, Its called management.

It was clear Trump had the American economy on his mind, first and foremost. He was detailed and less bombastic as he asserted that business and economic growth are what his wheelhouse is and what needs to be emphasized to change the trajectory of the economy and government spending.
He repeatedly defended his tax policies with specifics, and when pushed on his commitment to the presidential race made the point that he was winning in the polls and connecting with the voters. When pressed on whether he would leave the race if his numbers dropped, Trump was nonplussed, replying that he was not a masochist and if his poll numbers tanked it would be because he was no longer connecting with the American people.

TTTT your post
Trump will set a world record for a politician who has spent less money with highest poll numbers. Early and under budget!
As it should be because every candidate promises to cut waste and spending and none do. So I look forward to seeing the details for his proposals for cuts when he releases it.
I think they have more in plan. There’s too much at stake for the people from the progressive to just left of left of center. The metaphorical execution has to be just perfect and at the right time.
Sorry, odawg, but, from what I’ve seen, Donald Trump is no Ronald Reagan. Reagan pushed through a 23% ACROSS-THE-BOARD cut of individual income tax rates. Trump would give NON-CRIMINAL illegal aliens legal status and I can’t believe that anyone would seriously support the idea of SOMEHOW sending MILLIONS of illegals “home” only to bring them back ASAP, which is what Trump has said he would do. It’s not practical, it would be VERY costly and, in the final analysis, he agrees with most of the other GOP candidates that these folks would be allowed a pathway to legal status.
When he ran for the Reform Party in 2000, Trump absolutely supported universal health care, and has voiced support for a single-payer system a number of times.
“If you cant take care of your sick in the country, forget it, its all over. ... I believe in universal healthcare,” Trump on Larry King in October 1999.
“I would put forth a comprehensive health care program and fund it with an increase in corporate taxes, “ Trump told The Advocate in 2000.
“The Canadian plan also helps Canadians live longer and healthier than America. We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan, as many individual states are doing,” —from Trump’s 2000 book The America We Deserve.
To date, Trump has said very little about what he would replace Obamacare with, but he most certainly has supported a single payer system in the past. As for Trump’s “change of views” on guns and abortion, it wasn’t until he decided to run as a Republican that he did so.
I know this area well.
Am I sure I am 100% correct this time?
No. Never.
But we must chose among the dregs.
As a businessman and former successful Wall St investment banker...I think Trump is the best bet.
BTW, Trump is not a takeover artist...but he knows who they are and how they operate.

“Obviously the media is pushing Trump on our side ...”
LOL, hardly. They interview and talk about him, but only because if they don’t, their ratings will tumble.
The media is rude and obnoxious to and about him. “Journalists” interrupt him answering their questions to tell hum he can’t do whatever it is he is saying, ask asinine questions about when will he drop out of the race. He’s been the frontrunner for months, usually leading by double digits, yet all their stories lately are about how he’s slipping, just about ready to quit. The story could easily be that he’s still leading strongly and that a frontrunner being this consistent hasn’t been seen in decades. Every spin, every question, every sentence is designed to make him look bad.
I don’t know how he has the patience to deal with it and remain calm like he did today on meet the depressed. He did an outstanding job, in spite of the questioners obvious hostility.
LMAO....good one!!!
“If Trump is elected, the stock market will soar into the stratosphere and the United States will resume its ascendancy”
If Trump wins, I will work again. We went Galt this year, preparing for the economy to collapse and quitting paying into a government that uses our money foolishly. My plan is to have an AGI of $20k so with the standard deduction and 2 personal exemptions we will pay little in taxes. If he wins however, I’ll go back to an engineering job.
“Trump would give NON-CRIMINAL illegal aliens legal status...”
That is a joke. Has stated MANY times he will deport them ALL. Has not even hinted at legal status for illegals. You may have him confused with all the other Republican candidates.
“...cant believe that anyone would seriously support the idea of SOMEHOW sending MILLIONS of illegals home only to bring them back ASAP, which is what Trump has said he would do.”
No. Did you listen to his words? He said he would allow those who benefit the COUNTRY (not just themselves) back in, and he mentions top college students in the same breath.
“..in the final analysis, he agrees with most of the other GOP candidates that these folks would be allowed a pathway to legal status.”
I am surprised that you admit that. Legal status is amnesty, no matter how you slice it, and when that happens, the nation is over. There are 20 - 30 million illegals here, and they would vote overwhelmingly Democrat. You just faulted him for granting illegals legal status in the first sentence I quoted. Trump has never hinted at legal status for illegals.
Healthcare: I am not concerned with what Trump may have said FIFTEEN freakin’ years ago. People change, circumstances change. Do you really think you are the same person you were fifteen years ago?
“To date, Trump has said very little about what he would replace Obamacare with, but he most certainly has supported a single payer system in the past.”
He says it will be MARKET BASED (which rules out single payer). He has been releasing details for his plans, I suppose he will on that. However, can you recite to me the details of any other candidate’s replacement plans for Obamacare, or anything else, for that matter?
“Trump would give NON-CRIMINAL illegal aliens legal status “
That’s exactly the opposite of what his illegal immigration plan is.
Making stuff up doesn’t fly here.
Cruz would be much higher if he would hire some pros to clarify and enhance his message. Yes, he’s brilliant, but nobody even knows what his slogan is, or campaign symbol (hint: it sux and makes no sense).
Trump: “Make America Great Again!” Red hat.
Cruz: “...?” Stupid flame thing, looks like obama “O” on fire or melty...
Cruz has crappy marketing, period.
Wow. That tells me all I need to know about Pedertwin.
Where does he get his energy? I’m hoping it’s a gift from God, and a sign that God is answering our prayers to save America.
Has he ever expressed the same?

Day and night differences between the two as regards to life work experiences. Cruz has
been mostly associated with some type government employment where as Trump has been associated
with business/free market experiences. Different mind sets for the differing trades, imo.
I know this area well.
You mean like HP and Autonomy? AOL and Time Warner? Sprint and Nextel? Trump and Casinos? And airlines? And colleges? Hopefully he'll do better for the country than that.
if it turns out to be true that dems will vote in Republican primaries, it will be only a half truth that they will vote against Trump.
the other half of the truth is that just as many of these dems will vote for Trump.
And the dems in this latter group will vote for him in November.
If he’s Elected and IF he can recover the nation, if he can boost the USA on the world stage—I would want his face carved on a mountain! Cities would change their names, new Highways named for him. In time an Aircraft Carrier launched with his name. BUT he must prove himself.
