How to explain The Donald phenomenon?
Two words: TIGER BLOOD!
WINNING!
Seriously though, how does The Donald despite his huge ego, funky hair and lack of elegant rhetoric continue to pick up speed as he hurtles towards Iowa and the second R-word debate? Perhaps its not what hes got to offer, butt rather what he doesnt have on offer: to wit, hes not a politician. At least not in any traditional sense. So nobody owes him an apology.
H/T Powerline
On the other hand, if the other R-word candidates want to stop the tiger, perhaps it would be best if they just all stop feeding him.
Please Dont Feed the Tiger+

Americans are fed up. Couple that with being easily manipulated by media and lacking a systematic political philosophy that should guide them elsewhere, and we have Trump leading.

I told my wife 8 years ago that if we don't reign in illegal immigration now we will eventually elect a hard-ass who deal with it quickly and with no compromise.

Assuming that Trump is actually that guy, we could do worse.
I just don’t know that Trump is what he claims to be.

The Donald is rude, crude, and bigger than life. Indeed, he's a stick of dynamite up the collective behinds of the political establishment of both both parties. After the Iranian horror and betrayal of the U.S.and Israel by both parties, he's the cathartic the U.S. needs. Although I've donated $200 to the Walker campaign, I can't see anyone else who even comes close the the Donald at this time and for this crisis.

What The Donald has done to the political class and associated MSM, GOPe and lefties is to give them a gallon of Whoop @ss,
Known as a Paradigm Shift (that is a whack on the head with a 2x4 for those in Rio Linda)
and they have no response
Trumps response is instantaneous, short, sharp, and devastating (no focus groups were grilled in the process)

Among other things, he has exposed that we really have the JV team running our political campaigns, and our government.

We don’t know if any of them are who they claim to be. You can look at what Trump has accomplished and see that he gets things done. There are some governors in the race who have accomplishments, but you never know what will happen once they get in the WH either - so it’s a crap shoot. Look at some past governors and their legacies in the WH - they weren’t what they claimed to be either.

Cruz has been “on message” his entire (admittedly short) career. That makes me fairly confident that Cruz is “as advertised.”
Trump has swapped sides at least once (twice if I am not mistaken!). That is what creates doubts about Trump for me.

Cruz has his warts too. And, in my opinion, he is more of a lawyer type - AG or SC type. His wife’s connections worry me too.

Just about the entire British political class viewed Winston Churchill as an irresponsible bull in a china shop in 1938 (the Munich year), but when England's existential crisis came, the country turned to him, and he saved Western Civilization. The Donald, flaws and all, may have this role, the elites of both parties having totally disgraced themselves with the Iranian horror, the unresisted illegal alien invasion, and many other things.
To: NOBO2012
Simple: it’s because he’s his own man, willing to say what he thinks rather than what his handlers have told him what he should say. He’s one of the few who actually thinks for himself.
To: spokeshave
Contrast the difference:
Dim candidate Sanders abandons the podium.
Jebbie shouted down and scuttles out

I’m a little surprised that this is even a question at this stage.
Really, anyone who needs an explanation probably wouldn’t understand it anyway. And the reason for that is either they don’t have a grasp on the gravity of the situation, or they don’t love liberty.

Ahead in the polls is not “winning”.
No one is “winning” at this time. The only time when you can talk about winning is the night of the election.
