Trump: The Art of the Bluff

by JOHN FUND September 11, 2015

“I don’t like to analyze myself because I might not like what I see.” — Donald Trump, in an interview for Never Enough: Donald Trump and the Pursuit of Success, by business journalist Michael D’Antonio. “Trump was willing to say and do almost anything to satisfy his craving for attention. But he also possessed a sixth sense that kept him from going too far.” — D’Antonio’s conclusion to the book.

One often-underappreciated virtue of U.S. presidential campaigns is that their extreme length makes it very difficult to conceal what makes a candidate tick. (Barack Obama in 2008 was an exception, and he had help from an actively complicit media.) This reality is finally catching up to Donald Trump. As good as his “sixth sense” may be, Trump seems unlikely to avoid “going too far” in the long four-month stretch between now and the Iowa caucuses in February.

When Trump’s preacher turns up cursing America and its people, then I’ll throw him under the bus. Until then, I continue to like the way he’s running his campaign and will watch him with great interest.

Trump needs to tell us how he plans to identify, locate, detain, and deport over 11 million illegals to over 20 countries around the world using a fleet of aircraft, ships, and buses and in the face of an army of lawyers rushing up and down the steps of federal courthouses securing a confetti of injunctions? Remember 40% of illegals are those who have overstayed their visa and cannot be tracked.

Here’s a simple solution to legal immigration:
Make it a CRIMINAL offense for any employer, contractor, sub-contractor, and homeowner to hire anyone for work without reasonable authentication of lawful status.

Now try convincing the GOP-e and the Club for Growth to go along?

That is a good way to get started. Make the EMPLOYERS responsible (personally responsible) for making every effort to insure that their workers are U.S. citizens and/or LEGAL immigrants with authorization to work in this Country.

It is inevitable that from time to time, someone may slip through the cracks for which the employer must be held accountable, but when there are instances of obvious, mass employment fraud aided and abetted by employers, there is but one penalty which is DEPORTATION for the worker(s) in question, and JAIL TIME for the employer.

And make ANY business or government entity which colludes with an employer for the purpose of evading the law *equally* responsible.

This race is going to tighten. They always do. The pile on begins, that’s for sure. Some will say it’s about time.

We will wait and see if Trump is a gladiator and can survive his Alamo stand.

It’s really up to his supporters, isn’t it? I intend to stick.

There is nothing else out there. When Trump has his game face on, mostly in interviews with reporters he respects, it brings home to me that no one else can quite represent to me that they possess, even minimally, the force of Trump and that marvelous big mouth of his. Many possess decency and intellect and some craftiness and experience, but none imitate the force of Trump.

Besides, the bluff has been known to save whole tribes and nations, ever since time began. The bluff is epic in the Holy Bible.

I am happy that Trump is set to meet with a group of Christian leaders. This is what I have been asking for...I think a lot of people, a lot of Social Conservatives are ready to get on board the Trump train if he would only assure us that he will do all the right things on The Courts abortion, Christian Liberty etc

I need to be assured, many more do as well and apparently this was Trumps idea he asked for the meeting, so I am happy about this...I will accept an oath, a promise a signature etc

Ted Cruze needs to hear this plan. It’s simple. Then have Congress pass a law that under the 14th “subject to the general jurisdiction of the United States,” means full and complete allegiance to the US and explicitly making it clear it does not include offspring of illegals or even green card holders. At least one parent must be a US citizen.

I’m all for it. I would be surprised if Cruz was not already aware of it, and if there is even the slightest shred of Constitutional validity (and I believe there is), I think he would get behind it.

I intend to stick.

Me too.

I recognize an organized garbage-slinging campaign when I see one and the organizers are some of the people I hate most in the world. Romney people. Bush people. Rove people.

Liars and traitors. Every one of them.

First of all, I'm going to accept your points as though you are serious, not a lefty tossing out a smoke screen and give you some serious answers.

Skip getting GOPe and Club for Growth to "get on board" or agree with us! Ain't gonna happen mostly because there is a price tag attached to each illegal alien for them so don't treat their disagreements as genuine, but then so does each and every government agency, not the least of which is the Department of Education!

The NEA has one of the biggest of all! Forget "big business" it's our own city, county, state and federal government that have the biggest payoffs of all!

As to all of the obstacles you seem to see about getting the invaders up and out, you are accepting the talking points of those who want the status quo as is.

Trust me, most all of the invaders get some if not many government perks and to do so, they have to apply to one or more of these agencies for whatever benefit they are getting so we do know where each and everyone is.

This is a job for private agencies, after changing the rules and admitting that we have people getting taxpayer funded benefits and is no longer going to happen (again, we have government employees whose sole job is to assist the invaders in getting these benefits, so they also have a vested interest in not ending benefits for their jobs go bye, bye!)

Then treat illegals like delinquent auto loans, track them, pick them up and send them back where they came - and NO, Mexico is not going to set the rules whereby their own citizens can't return because Mexico can't provide for them!

He needs to be schooled in the Constitution if he’s serious. From that knowledge, he will fall naturally into liberty for Christians and the pro-life movement. He does say he’s anti-abortion and I do believe him.

Very well said, Rita. Trump has a life force and a fearlessness that I respect enormously. I’ve known businessmen in NYC who had these qualities. When they are good, they are gold; when bad, they are evil. I happen to think The Donald’s one of the good guys.

” how he plans to identify, locate, detain, and deport over 11 million illegals”

Just pay $100 to the unemployed for names and addresses of illegals. That can be their job. Turning in illegals.

The tracking won’t work. They pay cash for auto loans etc. This will entail a huge bureaucracy.

1. What will work is if it is made a criminal offense for any employer, college, university, corporation to hire anyone for work without having proof of lawful residency. The same applies to homeowners who contract for nannies, lawn moving, plumbers, painters, construction works, to contractors and subcontractors. If Hollywood screams let’s call them out as part of the cheap labor express.

2. Defund all cities and towns that provide for sanctuary cities or state drivers licenses to illegals.

3. Congressional legislation clarifying what “subject to the general jurisdiction” means in the 14th A.

4. Effective border patrols

The Trump plan is utter pie-in-the-sky hoopla and buffoonery.
