SHOCK! Baltimore to pay Freddie Gray's parents $6.4M; They haven't even paid the businesses yet!

What type of farganargle BS is this?

According to the Baltimore Sun, the city of Baltimore has reached a $6.4 million settlement in a lawsuit filed by the family of Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old man black man who died in April after suffering a neck injury while in police custody.

Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby leaves the courthouse after the first day of pretrial motions for six police officers charged in connection with the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore

The settlement is expected to be approved Wednesday at a meeting of the city's Board of Estimates, which oversees city spending, the mayor's office said.

"The proposed settlement agreement going before the Board of Estimates should not be interpreted as a judgment on the guilt or innocence of the officers facing trial," Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said in a statement. "This settlement is being proposed solely because it is in the best interest of the city and avoids costly and protracted litigation that would only make it more difficult for our city to heal."
Wow. This is wrong. The officer's haven't been tried and yet the government is already admitting guilt. There is evidence we don't know but this sounds a little premature if you ask me. If your delinquent son gets killed on the street by other delinquent thugs, you get nothing. If he dies in police custody, even by his own doing, you hit the lottery.

I live near Annapolis, so all this is close to home. What a joke!I hope someone looks in to this in a year and see what happened to all the money they got. Anyone, want to take bets on the fact, that they will burn through the money and somehow it will be whitey's fault.

Companies, corporations, and event planners are canceling coming to Balt left and right because of the situation there now, but they find a way to pay out this kind of money before the trial even starts? Really! Baltimore has been run by the DEMOCRAPS for decades. Most recently by blacks. The last 37 murders in Baltimore where black on black. Where is the outrage from the mayor on that. Both her and prosecutor are out of their league.

The place will blow up again regardless of how the trial goes and it will still be rich white republicans fault at the end of the day.

$6.4 million will not bring back poor Freddie. I suspect if his loving family could give back the money to bring back Freddie. They’d rather have the $$$.

Racists giving reparations to those who don’t deserve them.

When one people conquer another the victors typically seize property from the vanquished. This taking of taxpayer funds to give to the survivors of the criminal deceased merely illustrates the victor vanquished relation. If you will not fight get used to this type of action.

Probably the most incompetent group of people running (ruining) a city. But, if we look closely at other similarly organized cities, it will be seem as somewhat typical.

They were going to settle out of court for any amount the parents wanted all along.

Since litigation is costly and protracted anyway, I take it the city will now lay off all the (costly!) lawyers currently on the city payroll. Hey, they may come out ahead with this strategy. Legal process? Ain't nobody got time (or money) for that!

Only issue is who deals the straws in the family.

If you remember Saddam Hussein paid $25,000 to the families of Pali suicide bombers back in the day.

This means he is” worth more dead than alive”

Just like the starving artist whose value is not recognized until he is dead.

At least we have set the floor at 6.4 million per payout.
The next case will be like those baseball players who are “insulted” by a $6.4 million offer.

Exactly. This was a low blow to the six police officers who are being persecuted, and it is intended to prevent them from getting a fair trial. Liberals are evil.

The same cowardly stupidity when the Sanford, Florida Apartment complex agreed to pay the parents of the thug, Trayvon Martin, before the criminal case went to trial. It’s also an attempt to either corrupt the jury pool.
