Dang.
Roadrunner vs Rattlesnake
A snake, maybe, but how about a coyote?
Gee, does the roadrunner confirm for us that the snake ....
tastes like chicken?
camped in the foothills of the Santa Catalinas outside of Tucson for 3 months back in ‘75. watched the Roadrunner vs various reptiles drama play out many times from my homemade camper-van.
these guys are cool with nary a neep neep.
Wow!
Always thought they were pretty neat birds, but now I’ve got another reason to enjoy seeing them around the yard.

Made me appreciate the Roadrunner cartoons so much more
Roadrunners are stomachs with wings. If there’s food around, they aren’t bothered by people standing nearby. First things first!
We had one living in our neighborhood in New Mexico, and it would cruise our yard pretty regularly. We didn’t have any snake problems. :^)
We have two or three roadrunners around the homestead. I haven’t seen a rattlesnake since I have been here. No scorpions either. Only problem with roadrunners, they also eat quail and dove eggs. They also eat the chicks. My neighbor hates them for that. He figures them doves & quail need to grow up so he can eat them. Cooked on the grill, stuffed with jalapenos. yum yum!
Howsomenever, he killed a pretty large rattle snake in his garage last week.
Thanks for sharing!
I lived in Tucson for a few years and always enjoyed seeing them in my yard. We would keep a bowl of water and it always due lots of critters.
I wonder where her mate is? She may be immature and doesn’t have a mate yet.
Seeing a pair together was always a treat.
Thanks again.
LOVE seeing roadrunners. They can take down a Gila Monster too, which is always a good thing.
Just pray the snakes name ain’t Cecil. :>} Course the snake did get eatin. Unlike Cecil. Unless the natives ate him after the dentist donated it? Seems like most Zimbobbers are like——”Lion? So what. Thanks Doc.”
One of the reasons that I love roadrunners.
Nice!
We lived in New Mexico for eight years. The roadrunner is protected there and for good reason. They would sometimes taunt my dog from the roof of the house. But one day my dog took off after one -—and something happened I did not expect. She caught it. Oh no! I quickly buried it and it seemed my dog thought she was really something having caught the roadrunner.
I’ve got a couple that I see around my house here in Arizona. I don’t mess with them. I also leave the lizards alone. I’ve seen them doing the same thing to scorpions. Lizards and roadrunners are my friends.
Must taste like chicken! Rattles and all!
Probably an ACME snake. Something always goes wrong with them.
