(Couldn’t resist :)

Considering the fact that they didn’t even have the sealift capacity to project their armies across 30 miles of channel, the question is a pure [and purely unintersting] hypothetical.

We would not be celebrating transgender fools today as heros?

I actually think if WWII veterans could see in 1941 what American would turn into - they would refuse to fight.

The converse was easy enough. Even while fighting an entirely separate war in the Pacific, the USA invaded and conquered Germany, anyway.

The USA made more Liberty ships...than the Germans could make torpedoes.

Huge mismatch.

Wouldn’t have worked. The only way we would have lost a ground war on home territory was if Germany beat us to the bomb.
If Germany never invaded Russia they may have had the resources to at least stage invasions on Greenland or parts of Canada.

The DNC would have apologized for that “Jerry” and “kraut” stuff and asked what we could possibly do to ensure the Nazi’s feeling aren’t hurt.

A statue to Chamberlain would have been erected.

-—if it happened today.

The money quote from the article:

In addition, everybody had guns. One commonality among the nations conquered by Germany is that private firearms ownership was heavily restricted or simply banned.

Shoot, they couldn’t even make the hop across the English Channel, even when they controlled most of the territory and resources of Europe, and the Brits were back on their heels.

The Atlantic is a bit more of an obstacle.

And the United States was and is exponentially more powerful than Great Britain.

An old friend grew up in Nazi Germany. She told me that English was required in school so they’d be able to talk to their servants at the end of the war.

I suppose if they could have gotten some friendly government in South America (*cough* *cough* Argentina).......they could have begun building up on the Continent from there.

During World War II, we had the better Germans- Eisenhower, Nimitz, and hundreds of thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen of German descent. They were better Germans, because they were strong enough and courageous enough to cross the Atlantic and start a new life.

The Germans who stayed in Europe were weak, timid, and easily led.

We already know what would have happened.

After The Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, we darned sure weren’t giving up, so we destroyed Japan....

Let’s assume Britain did collapse and become a German occupied country in WWII. (Had Hitler and Goering not been such idiots, it might have happened)

Was not Canada a possession of the British Empire at that time? Would not land possessions like any other possession, such as their naval fleet, been subject to a ceasefire settlement?

If Britain’s defeat caused them to give up their entire empire, then Canada could have been a huge Nazi base as well as a source of oil and other goodies.

Now if that were possible, I doubt if the Canadians would have just folded.

But if the Canadians were somehow coerced into folding, then the US could have followed Churchill’s example of blasting the French fleet by invading Canada before the Nazi’s could come over and set up shop.

In 1940, Kaiser Wilhelm II, living in exile in Holland, told an interviewer that despite a string of victories giving it control of continental Europe, he nonetheless predicted that Germany would lose the war for lack of a navy.
