“The Nightly Show” host also took on presidential candidate Bobby Jindal and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
In response to Friday’s ruling by the Supreme Court declaring same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states, Larry Wilmore promised a #BigGayMonday episode of “The Nightly Show” to celebrate.
The episode, dubbed “Larry Wilmore’s 2015 YAAASSSS KWEEN YAAASSSS MARRIAGE-TRAVAGANZAAAAAAAA: A SLIPPERY SLOPE TO HAPPINAAAAAASS,” was opened by the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus performing a song called “It’s About [expletive] Time.”
Declaring it “too momentous a day to spend a lot of time focusing on the haters,” Wilmore addressed some of the criticism the ruling received from high-profile conservatives. The segment was called “Power Haterade,” named for Haterade’s cut-rate competior, Wilmore explained.
Republican presidential candidates Bobby Jindal and Ted Cruz took some heat for criticizing the Supreme Court and the judges themselves, with Wilmore joking that the only court with the authority and religious diversity to satisfy them would have to be in space.
“And what would a lot of conservative bloviating be without Donald Trump,” he continued.
The host praised CNN’s Jake Tapper for confronting the mogul about his views on “traditional marriage.” “What do you say to a lesbian who’s married, or a gay man who is married, who says, ‘Donald Trump, what’s traditional about being married three times?'” Tapper asks in a CNN clip played to Wilmore’s delight.
His final target was Justice Clarence Thomas, who employed a slavery analogy in his dissent, claiming slaves didn’t lose their dignity or their humanity. “Do you even know what slavery is?” Wilmore asked. “Clarence, please approach the bench, and then jump off of it.”

It is an economic issue, but it has ALSO become the biggest social issue. It’s the biggest enabler of big government.
Government sets the rules of the market place. It was government who lowered the import tariffs the founding fathers put in place that has caused our industries to off-shore and flooded our markets with imports. Government can fix that.
And government could eliminate all taxes and all regulations and we still wouldn’t be able to compete with $2/day chinese labor. Only restoring the import tariffs will restore American jobs.

I’m not sure I would say Trump is my candidate. Trump is the only candidate that understands the trade issues at the root of our economic problems.
But he’s far from the social conservative I’d like. I’m just not convinced those posturing as the ultimate conservative are really the social conservative I’d like either.

To be accurate Trump has always said he is for traditional marriage. He is not a constitutional lawyer like Cruz so I;m not surprised that he is not dissecting the gay marrieage proposal.
I can throw lots of brickbats at Trump, but he might make a decent candidate for the US Senate or the New York governorship. He'd certainly be lots better than the Democrats who that state usually elects.
But what works in the DC-NY-Boston corridor doesn't work nationwide. People don't win races in Iowa, South Carolina, or even New Hampshire by running the way they do in New York, New Jersey, or Massachusetts.
The only good things I can see about Trump and Christie being in this race are 1) their brashness will make comments by hard-core conservatives seem less radical than they would be if Jeb Bush were the main moderate Republican running, and 2) Trump and Christie may well have the effect of dividing the GOP-e voters.
The GOP-e has done a great job in numerous elections of pitting numerous conservative candidates against each other, with the result that the least conservative major candidate comes out on top. Divide-and-conquer works. Doing a divide-and-conquer routine against the GOP-e could very well happen this year, and that's not a bad idea.
