Which, of course you all knew, since you only pretended to think otherwise so you could get high without the pigs harshing your mellow.
Honestly, if you ever believed the nonsense that marijuana was medicine, you probably dont have the brain capacity to process the information Im about to give you. Then again, theres dumb and theres willfully delusional. You can have the ability to know better, but choose to embrace nonsense anyway because you want so desperately to get high.
Id say that still makes you an idiot. Just that youre an idiot by choice.
At any rate, you know that medical marijuana was sold as something desperately needed by the old and the sick suffering from cataracts and glaucoma. In reality, most of the cards approved by doctors go to 25-year-old dumbasses who claim to be suffering from chronic pain and headaches. The doctors know its a scam too, but they dont care. They figure the public is sufficiently sold on this scam, and many of them probably like to get high too.
But it was only a matter of time before someone actually looked into whether marijuana can function as a medicine. And . . . uh oh:
Short people:
Boys who smoke cannabis before puberty could be stunting their growth by more than four inches, a new study suggests.
I don’t buy this at all. I am not sure there have been any comprehensive studies done that prove it one way or another.
A new study funded by big Pharm by chance?
It’s nearly impossible to get federal approval for any studies of beneficial effects of cannabis, very easy to get approval for studies of harmful effects. So there are at least 20 studies looking for negative effects for every one looking at benefits. Small wonder they found little confirming evidence.
Then there’s this brilliant bit...
“But wait, you say. There is evidence it works for chronic pain! The study says so!
Of course it does. The same morons who claimed to have chronic pain - which no one can prove or disprove - now claim the pot is making them feel better. In the meantime, when it comes to real, clinically recognized conditions, it does little or nothing to help.”
So everyone with chronic pain is a moron who is faking it? I guess we can get rid of oxycontin, Vicodin, tramadol, and all the rest of big pharm’s addictive, deadly painkillers. Certainly can’t trust people who prefer a much safer, non-addictive alterative to know what helps them. The author in his wisdom knows better.
I love when the ignorant appoint themselves experts.
I was always told coffee did that, too. :)
Not disagreeing with the premise that most weed (and derivatives) users just want to get high, but there are documented medical benefits to marijuana use for some people.
How any small-government conservative could possibly support the “war on drugs” is simply astounding.
Did you drink coffee before puberty?
However, I will say this: any substance, natural or artificial, that decreases or alters one's perception of real pain, is indeed a medication. Still, anyone who had any illusions that legalized marijuana wouldn't turn into some kind of racket has fewer functioning brain cells than the stoners who lobbied for it.
I've been drinking coffee since I could drink out of a sippy cup. I'm also short. HA!
I think it's past time for a serious discussion on The merits of social conservatism verses constitutional conservatism. It seems to me that the former takes nearly as much interest in controlling behavior as the typical statist.
It never worked as a pain reliever for me, but I can see how it might for some people.
I don’t want people driving or (in most occupations) working while stoned. Otherwise I don’t really care.
Except for medically/physically addictive drugs, the key is the addictive personality. The substance is not the issue, the person is.
"The strongest evidence is for chronic pain and for muscle stiffness in multiple sclerosis, according to the review, which evaluated 79 studies involving more than 6,000 patients. Evidence was weak for many other conditions, including anxiety, sleep disorders, and Tourettes syndrome and the authors recommend more research."

I want all of ya ta either (BLEEP) or git offa the POT!!!
I feel your sarcasm, dware.
Actually, real conservatives are opposed to big government. It is liberals ( a gross mischaracterization), including many, many Republicans, particularly the leadership, who favor big government & the power/wealth it gives them.
In a way, the nanny state mentality is neither liberal nor conservative, rather it is a struggle between those wanting freedom & those wanting to dictate to others; the age old struggle between the serfs & the nobility. Nannies are aplenty on both sides of the aisle in Congress, imposing unjust, unnecessary laws not for the protection of the individual or society, but in an effort to further subjugate the masses for fun & profit.
I started smoking pot in 5th grade, at 11 years old. I smoked through most of high school and stopped when 17 years old. I have an IQ measured in the high 140’s-low 150’s (depends on the test).
I have known scientists, cops, lawyers, a Chief of Police, Naval Officers, pilots, mothers, fathers, wildy successful business owners and managers and many other successful professionals who smoked pot regularly. None of them had the issues that alcoholics have, except the ones that were also alcoholics.
I remain, based on a life of seeing it honestly and up close, unconvinced of any great harm caused by its use.
An 11 year old smoking ANYTHING is a problem
Yeah but it creates a lot of stoned idiots who will vote dem.
Yup, and there’s evidence that oils from the plant have anti-cancer properties that are powerful.
