On the first day we saw the North Charleston, South Carolina, shooting video of Walter Scott by Officer Michael Slager we were as shocked as everyone. However, as research now indicates there is much more to the story.
What we cover here in the latest update might just change the entire way the story continues

taxed, not taxed, danged auto
The original fight that occurred at the start of the sidewalk was not on the truncated video released to the public.
There appears to have been a witness to that first struggle, which seems to have taken around 2 minutes. It weill be interesting to see that witness testimony in court, if the grand jury doesn’t return a “no-bill” (which would surprise me).
We do not know who was tasered, if either of them were- just that the taser appears to have been was discharged, and that wires seem entangled on both men in the released truncated video recording of the end of the encounter.
We can see a very blurry image of Scott on top of Slager at the beginning of that video, but can’t tell what he is doing to Slager. He could be trying to choke him, or he could be trying to get up to run again.
None of us want to see someone shot in the back by an Officer for no apparent cause, but I do not think we can assume that this is the case just yet. There is too much that we do not yet know.
Reading through this thread has been an interesting experience. I always assumed that most Freepers used reason, not emotion, and were not easily swayed by media manipulations. I also thought that we were supposed to look for good links to support our opinions and speculations, not our personal biases.
When posters resort to insults and ad hominem attacks on other posters, many of us spot the tactic and assume the poster has an agenda.
Scott had nothing in his hands, when he was running away from Slager and shot by Slager. There was no deadly threat.
Slager had a bad day. He failed to catch Scott and cuff him without using deadly force. He failed to call for backup while further pursuing. Slager’s buddies immediately charged him and appear from their statement to have made a case. Looks like tough politics in that dept.
You are the one that mentioned it, dummey.

What "truncated video"?
He killed an unarmed man posing no threat to Slager or anyone else. He should face far more than that.
Many of us are tired of living in a police state. The key is that the rules for when police in America can use deadly force has a lower threshold than our troops in a war zone have.
“Speculation about whether Slager got taxed aside”
What the hell...that was the whole premis of this thread.
Utter nonsense, don’t even post if you have no facts whatsoever. Slager can clearly be heard calling for backup at the traffic stop scene, when Scott rabbits. He was not charged by the state (the state, not “his buddies”) until the video came to their attention.
There is new info posted on The Conservative Treehouse. I just found it, haven’t read much of it yet, but it looks interesting.
The passenger has been identified, and he seems to have a rap sheet. For those of you interested in the search for truth, rather than a food-fight over uninformed opinions, here is the link.
So which video are you talking about?? You mean to say you haven’t seen either, and accuse me of making them both up? After the latter has been seen by millions of people? Sheesh
You hate that video, don't you?
Show us the one the clears your man. That's all.
And yes it's VERY relevant if slager was tased...isnt that the reason you started this thread?
So what? Make up your mind, either it’s mere speculation, or you’re hanging your hat on it.
Right.
Thanks for posting that!
Scott was obviously not an immediate threat re. Garner v. Tennessee, 471 US 1 (1985).
Scott was unarmed, ran too far and was still running. Slager would have been better off trying to follow him until backup arrived. He also had Scott’s car and had a good look at him before the incident.
If there’s no backup (bad dept. politics), the best thing to do is quit and look for work somewhere else. Things will never work out perfectly for all situations. Unusual circumstances are often encountered. There are always options. The more training, the more options.
Sure, but I merely set it aside for a second, can you handle it, or do you need a personal ?
Ah, I see, I call you on it, and you switch. Of course.
