On the first day we saw the North Charleston, South Carolina, shooting video of Walter Scott by Officer Michael Slager we were as shocked as everyone. However, as research now indicates there is much more to the story.
What we cover here in the latest update might just change the entire way the story continues

If the officer is exonerated, he should and will sue the Department for termination and hopefully, attorney fees. The Department appears to be was waaay too hasty in its decision.
Blood is thicker than water...and blue is thicker than blood.
Your list is full of errors.
Wht not?
Look, I know you’ve been here a long time and I respect that, but your lack of critical thinking makes me wonder how you have been around so long.
Cops are not a privileged class (maybe at the donut shop, but at least not above the law). The police are charged with and are responsible for the safety of ALL. When an individual breaks the law assaulting that officer and is possibly going to endanger others, including the cop, the cop is REQUIRED to STOP the criminal regardless of what it takes. The rightful assumption being that if the perp got away he would likely cause harm to others, not suddenly turn into model citizen.
If you can not grasp that simple notion, then please stop and read up on the law, don’t just keep jumping to 3rd grade conclusions.
Thankfully libertarians are a very minor part of those claiming to be conservative.
Do you know what the penalty is for planting evidence, State then Federal?
Unless you are tased as a precursor to taking your gun and shooting you.
I don’t know how Taser’s work. If Slager was Tased and had wires in his body moving the device may have helped? It will be interesting to see if there has been a “rush to judgement.” Americans can no longer respect any form of authority. The prevailing spirit being “you can’t tell ME what to do.’ The cop MAY be a victim of that spirit. ONCE AGAIN I SAID “MAY”. Wait and see how events develop before judging.
IChing, stop responding to this poster. He is simply baiting you.
Notice I said we don't know all the facts, and if Slager was not disoriented, it looks pretty bad for him.
But if Scott did in face taze Slager, any jury might give Slager a lot of leeway. How about we let all the evidence emerge before making a final condemnation?
I get what you are saying, but until that is proven I am not going to assume that is what happened, though I realize it can and does happen.
I am very troubled by the shooting of a fleeing man in the back, as any reasonable person would be. It’s difficult to see how the officer could claim that his life was in danger at the time of his discharging of his weapon.
That being said, if he had his own taser prongs in him and the other man had his taser...or if there are some other factors that I am not aware of, which it seems like there may be, I am going to hold off jumping on the band wagon here.
I want to see the evidence at this point. I’m still fine at this time with the officer being charged.
So you are saying that the cop would be fine with being made an accomplice of Slager’s planting of evidence by his doing it right in front of him?
Maybe that’s what happened, but I don’t know, I’m skeptical.
That would be true. However there is no evidence of that. The jury will be looking at the "plant".
.
“It is not legal to shoot a fleeing person for running away from a child support payment.”
Obviously, you aren’t paying attention. Did you miss the attack on the officer? Is that not another crime? Or is that a freebee?
Amen.
That is a bad cop.
So far, that only exists in your mind.
Getting ahead of yourself. Scott need not have knowledge as to using the taser; only that he thought he did and “attempted to use it” against Slager.
Unless, unless, unless?
Unless my grandmother was a bicycle.
That would have been an escalation of force by the suspect above and beyond what is already in the publicly available evidence record.
Seriously— the cop already lied. Who on earth would believe the cop if he started talking about the suspect grabbing his gun now? Something that the world will never learn (unless there is another video that shows it).
It has to be proven. You are already there.
