So. I flew from Texas as a guest of Ted Cruz' PAC to attend CPAC. I'm in my hotel room in Crystal City getting ready to go back home in the morning.
This was my first time to attend CPAC.
My observations:
1. Three types of pepole in attendance: college intern type, political operative type, and far fewer: average people.
2. The Paul people were everywhere. Judging by the idiot sitting behind me at the "Big Government Sucks" rally, I'm not impressed. This college kid was trying to explain, very patiently, to his buddy that the problem isn't really big government, but how that big government is run. Oh! and the Constitution was designed to be flexible with the times.
3, Paul had a huge group there, all college kids. Cruz had a decent group present. Ben Carson had a decent crowd. I didn't see any Walker people there. Anybody else was negligible. The only time I saw el Jefe people was when they raided the ballroom before his speech.
I prefer Cruz over Walker. Indeed, I attended for the sole reason to vote for Cruz. I have to give Walker this prop: his showing was based soley on his current rise in awareness for the early campaign.
Let me also say that candidates could invite people to attend, and it seemed to be standard that invitees from candidate could get half price tix: 67.50/day instead of 125. I believe the campaigns paid the difference.
2, I was surprised just how many interns filed in for Bush during his speech. It was the only time we saw Jeb! stickers on interns the whole event. They literally crowded the ballroom to SRO.
3. Rick Perry came across angry and focused his whole speech on foreign policy. He didn't play to his strength as one of the most successful Govs in recent history. At all.
For all the talk of a walkout for Bush, the real walkout was on Santorum. Half the room left when he got up to speak. Of course, he was on right after Rand Paul spoke and all the Paul-ites were leaving as Sen. Santorum was coming to the podium.
4, I met Freeper C. Edmund Wrigt and he gave me a copy of his book, "How Karl Rove and the Establishment Lost...Again." I'm going to read it when I get home. Thanks.
5. I bought a T-shirt of the Cruz Tattoo Pic.
6. I finally learned how to manipulate the Metro to my advantage...now that I'm leaving.
7. CPAC 2016 is Wed Mar 2 - Sat Mar 6. The Texas Primary is now set for Tueday, Mar 1. That should make CPAC 2016 a shake-up event for the race.
8. I went to a breakout session w/ FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai. Essentially, everybody thinks this will go to Court and there's a good chance that they Administration didn't cross it's Ts and dot its Is to survive a challenge.
I had a good time. I'm more jaded about politics and how it works. And less so.
Like me, she wouldn’t have stayed home, but who knows how she handled the presidential portion of her voting.
So you are just trolling the thread, and not being serious, useful, or meaningful.
Kiss my grits. I was just stating a fact. Look it up.
No, you are trolling the thread.
Read what else I have said on this thread before you make a fool of yourself.
Like I said, the el Jefe interns seriously distracted me. Phil Robertson was there due to winning a Brietbart award for taking the media heat last year. There was an extended video at the start juxtaposing pics of Robertson and Brietbart. That was cool.
Mark Levin this morning: The only dynasty I support is the Duck Dynasty...
I have read your trolling posts.
My first cousin is an elementary school teacher on Long Island, New York.
She is in her 50’s, Catholic, Italian-American.....and votes Republican. She can’t stand Obama, and neither can her husband.
In 2012, when we asked her on the telephone if she would be able to get to the polls to vote (in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy), she said she would “swim to the polls if I had to.” She voted for Romney, probably more of a vote against Obama, and once told me that she wanted Obama and his vacationing family “gone!”
It really does boil down to plain old foolishness, doesn't it?
Yep! That's very encouraging.
But one must ask: "Why weren't his people working the crowd?"
He has to learn to play the game in order to win. I hope he does. Anyone who has actually run an organization (not just their mouth), and has the backbone to face down the union thugs might just make a good candidate.
You've inspired me. I think I'll go the next event. ;-)
The old voters were the most anti-Obama voters, why are they being mocked?
I have read your trolling posts.
I agree. In 2012 with Newt absolutely crushing all the other candidates. Fox and all the other networks followed Krauthammers directive and proceeded to crush Newt. I will never forget Krauthammers directive. I hope he’s happy in the thought that not only has the world turned on Israel, but the President, whom I’m sure he voted for at least once, hates him. How does it feel Kraughthammr that he wants to destroy Israel “and all of the Jews?”
Pride goeth before the fall! I hope you’re happy.
Newt, with all of his flaws would have at least listened to the will of the people.
It really does boil down to plain old foolishness, doesn’t it?
What really irks me is the inability of so many people to discern. Anyone with any sense at all would look at Obama or Reid or Hitlery or any number of them and realize somewhere in their indoctrinated, warped minds that something is wrong here. Man, that just chaps my butt.
You have attacked Palin, and you continue to attack the most anti_Obama age group?
That sure seems like trolling on a thread that made sense at the beginning.
Newt was imperfect as they all are, and we don’t know how much of his good stuff, or bad stuff, would come out as president, but Newt has been a conservative hero and a conservative historical figure.
Newt would have stood a better chance in the general than Mitt Romney, in fact, that election was a shoo in for republicans.
Watch the video of the Bush speech and you will see that there was a massive walkout, and then later smaller ones. It’s probably easier to see on the video than it was in person, because the cameras were focusing on it. It definitely was much more than people milling about or the usual going in and out.
Well, it’s better than supporting the Democrat Nominee, right?
Oh, I forgot, Obama and Romney are Brothers from different Mothers, just like George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
>>>in fact, that election was a shoo in for republicans<<<
I wish you were correct, I really, really do. Too many Takers, too much Propaganda and too much Fraud.
As Rush said, he knew we lost when they Polled Voters who thought 5 to 1 that Obama cared about them than Romney the RINO. It would have been 10 to 1 of my guy Newt was the Republican Nominee.
Never underestimate the shallowness of the Electorate.
You’re wacky. Show me where I have attacked her. Show me.
Oh, I forgot, Obama and Romney are Brothers from different Mothers, just like George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
LOL You’re right.
