Scott Walker stumbled on it during a trip to London. He and the rest of the 2016 Republican presidential field will face it repeatedly in the months ahead. So it would probably be best if GOP candidates prepared a quick and clear answer to the question, 'Do you believe in evolution?' They'll have to use it a lot.
If they are like most Americans, Republican candidates believe God has guided the creation of the Earth and its inhabitants. That alone is enough to craft an answer that will both represent their beliefs and work in a campaign.
The Gallup polling organization has done surveys about evolution for years. They ask this question:
Which of the following statements comes closest to your views on the origin and development of human beings: 1) Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process; 2) Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part in this process; or 3) God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so.
In the most recent poll, done in May 2014, a plurality, 42 percent, said God created humans in their present form, while 31 percent said humans evolved with God's guidance. Just 19 percent said humans evolved with God playing no part in the process, and 8 percent had no opinion.

I don’t want Walker to be the US Chamber of Crony-Fascists man in the White Hut, but that was not a stumble. That was an acknowledgement that the press was looking for something to smear him with, and he demurred.

I'm pretty sure the number of people who subscribe to the theory that natural selection is the source of life has diminished steadily since it was first postulated. It's a ridiculous premise and while I'm not going to bother to look it up, I seem to recall reading that not even Darwin proposed it.
And very few God fearing people would argue that natural selection does indeed occur. They just know it's not the origin of the species.

I don’t care about evolution unless it means islamderthals are going to go extinct in the next few years.
If the media must ask about Evolution I dare them to ask a liberal what evolutionary purpose homosexuality serves.
Walker is the son of a Preacher. His position on evolution is clear. He didn’t stumble on the question, he just said that the question was inapproriate for that forumn and the subjects being discussed and didn’t want to entertain it at that time. “Stumbling” is a poor description of what occured.
Or what does it have to with our involvement in the Middle East? It’s part of how FOS the reporters are.
Why does the left keep stumbling on evolution? Is it because they don’t know any better or a bad habit like picking their noses that they just can’t break?
