Buffalo, NY A high profile case of Buffalo police killing a mans dog while looking for non-existent drugs, has led to a Freedom of Information request revealing some sadistic figures.
On June 3, 2013 Buffalo police raided a mans home to look for crack cocaine. He was not there, nor was the crack.
The home belonged to Iraqi war veteran, Adam Arroyo and his 2-year-old pit bull Cindy.
Upon breaking down the door to Arroyos home, officers encountered Cindy, who was barely 50 pounds, and shot and killed her. They were at the wrong apartment.
According to use of force reports requested by WGRZ-TV under the Freedom of Information Law, Buffalo Police shot 92 dogs from Jan. 1, 2011 through Sept. 2014. Seventy-three of those dogs died. Nineteen survived.
To provide a comparison, Buffalos numbers more than triple the amount of dog shooting incidents involving police in Cincinnati, a municipality of similar size.
The numbers are what the numbers are, Buffalo Police Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards said in an interview with WGRZ. Certainly, no officer takes any satisfaction in having to dispatch a dog.
Perhaps an even more disturbing reality is that nearly 30 percent of these dog shootings in Buffalo were carried out by one man. The unidentified officer has shot 26 dogs, killing 25 of them, in just the last three years.

Don’t make me come beheading ... /s
I you’re referring to the soon-to-be canonized St Michel of the Stolen Cigars (SBUH), you’re insulting all dogs by likening that subhuman to them.
How come mailmen and meter readers can deal with dogs, but ‘tough’ police cannot?
...
Because they can refuse service to houses with aggressive dogs. The police usually can’t.
Well, I do not steal but I do smoke 'em when have 'em! It is a form of honest love.
“Thats easy. Mail carriers are in cars and have little to fear from dogs. Police DO deal with dogs. Unfortunately for owners their method of dealing with them is to shoot them. :-).”
I’m sorry, but I disagree with you there. I was a mailman for 5 years. Some routes are “mounted” -(mailboxes at the curbside) but most of them are either mixed (walking and mounted) or just walking routes.
Believe me, they deal with dogs EVERY single day of their careers. I sure did. And yeah, I got bitten a few times... big deal. I LEARNED how to DEAL with them. You learn to EXPECT them; learn to avert their attention; half of them just want to be patted anyway. Milk bones unfailingly divert ANY dog’s attention long enough for a person to retreat.
Oh, and I think one thing that makes a difference is a basic respect for ‘life’ in general. Cops are being trained to lose this.
You LIE! That's a steaming pile of gourmet grade, uncured bull manure and we all know it.
Having read the comments on social media, I think more than a few get off on it, just like they do warring on drugs and the "civilians" who get in their way, just like they do dressing up and playing with their cool GuvCo provided toys.
If they didn't enjoy their war, we'd have less of it and less of its collateral damage and fewer of its many casualties in all their forms.
With what is about to happen tomorrow night, here you are barking about some stupid dogs being shot. You and this motley crew of goof balls ought to start your own site called “We hate cops because we are stupid”.
A bit harsh, don’t you think?
The fact that slaughtered dogs evoke a much stronger emotional response in most Americans says volumes about culture and values. Revealing and interesting.
I’ve had a few encounters with police officers while with my dog, from riding in a helicopter with Sam sitting between myself and the OPP officer, to getting an hour long ride in a police car with Sam in the back seat and once getting selected for a random safety check while Sam was with me and when the officers doing the checking found out who Sam was they said no way they were going to find anything wrong with my vehicle and sent me on my way with handshakes and smiles. All the encounters between police and my dog have been very positive....
...but, my worse nightmare is running into a power tripping, trigger happy a-hole with a badge who looks at my dog and sees a threat.
Certainly, no officer takes any satisfaction in having to dispatch a dog.
That isn’t a certainty at all, and the fact that the chief assumes it would be is disappointing.
God I get sick of the ones who cannot seem to focus on more than one issue at a time.
They *always* pop on these threads.
What would happen if I interrupted a pro-life thread with dog complaints?
Think they’d love me for it?
“Dumb cops, dumb cops ... whatcha gonna do,
Whatcha gonna do with a low IQ...”
ROFL. Did you come up with that one all by your lonesome?
Looks like we have another one here who loves the taste of shoe polish.
Cops doing what they do best.
Good question. Maybe so no one kills his dog(s) or torches this asswagon's car.
Because the Mail man is not armed and covered by qualified immunity?
Well, the adults here deal with topics which are important while your crowd goes around worshipping dog poop.
Do your local cops ever get tired of you humping their legs?
