MI Poll: How do you feel about your Realtor carrying a gun?

MI Realtor with CCW permit

Michigan Poll:  Would you be more comfortable shopping for a home if you knew your Realtor was carrying a gun?

Note the tortured structure of this poll.  Not "Would it bother you if your Realtor carried a gun?  Not  "Do you think Realtors should be able to carry guns?"

I think the clearest question would be "Would you prefer that your Realtor  be unarmed?"

But the question is what it is.   The results so far are as follows:

Would you be more comfortable shopping for a home if you knew your Realtor was carrying a gun?

yes     61.53%  (411 votes)

No     38.4%    (257 votes)

The Link for the poll is here

On line  polls  measure the ratio of those who are interested enough to answer an online poll. The results are a little low.  Second Amendment supporters typically outnumber those who push for more restrictions by 3-10 to 1. In this case it is not yet 2-1 ratio. This poll is asking an essentially emotional question designed to delegitimize self defense. Those who want more restrictions on guns must delegitimize self defense, or they lose.  Even with the emotional trigger in place, the poll is almost 2-1 ratio in favor of second amendment supporters.

I think the clearest question would be "Would you prefer that your Realtor be unarmed?"

No, the clearest question would be:

"Do you believe that, of the thousands of different professions practiced in the U.S., real-estate agents should be DENIED their Constitutional right to bear arms? And if so: Why them and not, say, pastry chefs, kindergarten teachers, or ballet dancers?"

Regards,

I’ve been in the business 11 years and remember 3 murders. 3 too many.

My realtor? Most people’s interactions with a realtor are far and few in between.

Realtor’s however deal with people on a daily basis in god who knows where out of the way locations. Female realtor’s who have their face out there are particularly at risk. If a realtor cannot afford a body guard, they should learn how to use a gun and keep it on their person at ALL Times.

I had a major run in that I stopped from going any further with information about myself. It was in a very pricey part of town in a very expensive home.

I carry now.

I have a great real estate agent, if I found out she wasn’t carrying, I’d buy her a pistol as a gift for doing a good job.

I could never understand why more realtors don’t carry guns. They seem to be in very vulnerable situations in their normal business day.....

If I were a realtor, and especially a woman, I would certainly be armed.

Hoplophobes? I had to look it up, means a fear of weapons. At first I thought it was a fear of the Hops in Beer.

I thought it was a fear of old western shows.

Why would it matter to me one way or the other? The only question here would be is the realtor doing a good job finding me a home or not..

In New Jersey you have to "prove a need" to have a carry permit approved. Unless you are "connected" the proof is never enough.

In my nearly thirty years in real estate I have accompanied women co-workers a number of times, who had set appointments to meet men at vacant properties but then got a bad feeling about it. Only one time did we get that "What's HE doing with you" look from the prospect.

True story - I was looking for a house or cabin to purchase to roll over funds I had from selling some land. The realtor and I are in a nice A-frame overlooking a lake in Idaho when I noticed that there were some sleeping bags in the living room and some gear in the kitchen. Guy turns to me and says, “Are you carrying?” “No,” I said, “why?” “Because this place is supposed to be empty and I think that’s a meth lab,” he replied. “Let’s get the hell out of here.” From then on I carried. I believe he did as well.

So Equinalurinophobia is NOT a fear of horses encountered during a full moon? Okay.

I had an REO management business fir a few years and I can tell you there is nothing like walking into a “locked” property and have some vagrant running out the back door.

Happened more than once but, the 1st was all it took for me to always carry into a property and clear it before commencing with work.

Realtors run the same risk I assessed I was running when entering an empty house and should carry.
