Well, FRiends..
Last Wednesday, Springfield Armory shipped my XDm .45 with FedEx to my home, and it should be here this Monday.
They had it because each XDm barrel is custom fit for each gun, and to install a threaded, extended barrel for suppressor use, they required the entire pistol be shipped to their shop.
Note to future stamp collectors: Get ALL of your extracurricular armory work done while waiting for your tax stamp.
Hopefully, by Monday evening, I will be getting a knock on my door and my 4.5 inch baby will be delivered.
I need to check their work and make sure that everything is aligned and safe for usage.
The reason that I'm creating this article is because I would really like to hear from other Stamp Collectors.
I want to listen to any advice that they might have.
I also would hope to have this post be useful for other FReepers who are thinking about going through the legal hurdles required to own SBRs, suppressors and other NFA items.
It only took me five months and change to get my tax stamp.
Perhaps it's time for more folks to take the plunge.
And Thank You!
My wife and I would have stayed and fought in California if it weren't for our four little ones. We felt we couldn't make that choice for them, so we moved to Texas nine years ago.
We're done running.

Two years ago, it took right at 6 months. Last year, it took 9 months, almost to the day.
And I really wish I had created a trust, instead of individual...
.375 reaper- I will do that.
I hear ya.
I, personally, couldn’t move to the beautiful state of Texas.
Too many ex’s...
(The late ‘80s weren’t kind when I lived there)
If you still wish to go the Gun Trust route, pay someone to do it for you.
It’s VERY much worth it.
My sheriff will sign forms right there in the hallway if you catch him at the right time. Otherwise, his secretary has a rubber stamp in her top left drawer.
NICE!
I hope my choice for sheriff wins the election. He sounds like a strong 2A supporter.
So you're the dude who wrote that song! Keep hangin' your hat in Tennessee, my friend ;-)
My sheriff isn’t a STRONG 2nd Amendement supporter, but we are a “shall sign” state. He’s obligated to sign because state law says so.
The reason why is because we’re also a state that ‘prohibits’ NFA-restricted items except for the clause in the revised statutes reading ‘... Unless the possessor proves (the NFA item) is lawfully registered with the Federal government’. So, he’s obligated to sign so as not to create jeopardy.
This likewise allows LEOs encountering a machine gun in the course of their duties to force the possessor to prove lawful ownership, rather than having to presume a machine gun (for instance) is lawfully owned if the state law were to merely say that machine gun possession isn’t a crime, or if the state law were to be silent on the issue.
It’s important to know your own state laws regarding NFA instead of just what the Feds say. Several states have real peculiarities.
A .308 chopped and necked for a .375?
Bill Ruger must be spinning.
$200??? Isn’t it cheaper to buy a small oil filter? I saw Steve Segal use a 32 OZ plastic bottle, do they tax those too?
I Just collect little Lead Soldiers.
“I saw Steve Segal use a 32 OZ plastic bottle, do they tax those too?”
That actually does work...or so I’m told.
the 32 ounce bottle only works once. and you can use other things in a pinch.
See what happens if the ATF ever finds a plastic bottle with a tiny little bullet hole in the bottom in your home. Same goes for oil filters.
And that’s why I never went for shipment of guns to my home. “According to UPS dude ..........”
Am interested in how well you think it works?
I have heard they muffle the sound but it is stii quite audible.
Please let us know what you think after a good test.
Is it worth the trouble and money?
You know it puts you on Another gub mint list
Thanks
I was just looking at suppressors at a local gun show as I am interested in one, and he mentioned there was talk of raising it in DC to something like $3000.
