Pry provided details of recent attacks on electricity systems and said that ISIS could easily team with Mexican drug cartels to ravage America.
He told Secrets, for example, that the Knights Templar drug gang blacked out the electric grid of the Mexican state of Michoacan in 2013 to provide cover for killing those fighting the drug trade.
The Knights Templars and other criminal gangs in Mexico will do anything for money, and ISIS, the richest terrorist organization in history, has hundreds of millions of dollars at its disposal, said Pry.
ISIS could hire one of the Mexican cartels, or one of their criminal gangs already in the U.S., or activate jihadist terror cells already in the U.S., and inflict a multi-state blackout immediately, within days or weeks. Perhaps even a nationwide blackout, Pry explained to Secrets.
I am not saying it is likely they will do so. But given the capabilities and objectives of ISIS and our obvious vulnerabilities, it would be foolish to ignore the threat to the grid, to regard the threat as unlikely. Our planning should be based on imminent asymmetrical threats, and not assume that another 9/11 large-scale attack is years away, he added.
The Texas Department of Public Safety recently said they believe there is evidence that ISIS plans an attack. (source)

That's why I chose to have a solar panel/recharger and many rechargeable batteries capable of being recharged 1,500 times each. Also solar lanterns and enough jar candles to last a year providing light at night. Yes, I have blackout shades for every window - open in the daytime, dropped down at night.
I probably could cook special events with a bribe of running hot water.

I also now live within walking distance of a finger of a lake of water and have the Big Berkey to make it pure. Alcohol, pure water, food to cook and a fancy bus/house will surely tempt Johnny to throw in with us.
If your well is around 75’ deep there is a solar powered little pump called Neemo or something like that. If your well is 40’ deep or less, a pitcher pump or hand pump works very nicely. If your well is deep deep, darned.
Is it very expensive to put a hand pump over the well?

I was born on this ground. Not 10 meters from where you and your hubby stood.
I'll expect I'll die here, within the same range.
Pants optional, of course. I was born without pants.

“I’ve got it good here, sister, regardless of how scruffy it looks. I may not (won’t) be willing to leave.”
We don’t know what is going to happen - maybe we have to come your direction but we’ll have our house with us in the bus. All options are open according to what must be done at the time or later. I’m hoping the country gets through this 9-11 without a problem. We will stay home that day.
How deep is your well?
I really need to learn...
'Cause we're living in a world of fools...
Breaking us down...
When the fan is hit by shit...
We need to protect the grid...
Na na na na na...
You’re doing more for your parents than you realize.
All I could think of, reading your post, was how pleased God must be with you.
How deep is your well?
If it is less than 50’, you can buy a pitcher pump (from quirky hardware store) for about $50. It will have 1 1/4 fpt. Installs so easy, even a girl can do it.
Thanks for the tip! Will look for it, and we do have a shallow well but not sure exactly how deep.
Also, I forgot who posted this link to access water:

You can attach a hand pump to the faucet closest to your pump and get water from your well. I have done it and it became part of our prepping a long time ago.
If you dont have a generator that you can use to run your well pump, get a rocket bucket.

Okay, I’m googling “rocket bucket” to no avail. What is a rocket bucket? (We also have a well, a fairly shallow one, so I’m looking for a way, or better yet, two ways, to get water out of that well when the stuff hits the fan!)
Thanks for keeping the prepper pings coming Kart. I read every word.

Curious - how many feet in total (horizontal + vertical) does that pump draw from your well or source? Must you valve off the rest of your home’s clean-water piping, or install some other sort of isolation switch? I’ve seen all sorts of alternate methods of drawing water during power-offs suggested, but yours is so countrified common sense, I’m smacking myself over such a simple solution. Brilliant. Elegant, even.
> I must admit the act of drinking beer with chocolate cake has never crossed my mind let alone my palate.
Whiskey with chocolate, sir. Not much of a whiskey fan m’self until I tried the combo. If said chocolate encloses a cherry, all the better.

Pairing chocolate with whiskey is an interesting exercise, since it is an assault on all your senses. Chocolate coats the mouth and tongue, blunting your taste buds, and whiskeys complex aromas overwhelm the nose. But its worth the effort, because when the combination is right, it really sings.
