I had friend who was cop. Actually he was police inspector (detective) when SHTF in first few weeks he simply used his badge and authority in chaos and confiscate gold from people in the name of cause. The cause back then was to support our fight against the enemy troops who have surrounded our city. But the cause can be anything of course.
At first it was story about how it is not secure to have gold inside home because bad security state in town, so it will be kept in safe in town hall. Sounds stupid maybe, but people (especially honest and decent) will believe in lot of things if you back up your words with some authority like badge and uniform and some weapon. He even gave them some kind of written certificate (recipe) for gold that he took.
Few days later when it was obvious that there is no safe in town hall, and no government order, he simply took it with force and using weapons.

Preppers’ PING!!
If your friend lives anywhere near me he won’t last a week...
I’ll bet my Luepold MK IV he doesn’t and I’ll use my Scirroco rounds because, feral hogs need hunting and each shot counts.
That’s why you don’t tell anyone what you’ve got.
Cops will be judged on their actions of morality and ethics (or lack thereof) with or without a formal institution to back them up. Badges don’t mean much in SHTF world.
I don’t store gold, or anything else “officer”. Thanks for your concern.
Anybody got any thoughts on hiding places for stuff that “authorities” might want to confiscate when SHTF?
I think that would be an interesting discussion.
If you told him that you think you were exposed to Ebola and had a headache and other symptoms, do you think it would scare him away? I know it would scare me away.

No I actually think it would be a shoot to kill situation.
In that case, I better just post a sign, and hide behind the door with some sort of weapon.
Where we are 15 cops with that attitude would last about 24 hours. Then they would disappear and no more problem. :-)
That is a really creepy website.
.
Don’t hide your stuff. Just keep your cake hole shut about it. If someone tries to take it by force then you need to worry about hiding something, their corpses namely.

When the SHTF, anyone who has a clue won’t be leaving their domicile for a few days or weeks and anyone approaching said domicile would be met with the business end of multiple weapons.
Said cope wouldn’t survive very long at all. Teams of cops bent on disarming citizens or attempting to relieve them of their possessions would meet firepower that will eventually eradicate their teams.
I’m sure they’ll encounter plenty of people who can’t or won’t resist, but sooner or later they’ll approach the wrong people and that will be their end.
I don’t have a cake hole, and I don’t have nothin’ else either.
Another tip of the hat to Selco. The man knows whereof he speaks.
And Thanks Kart :-)
I read this a few days ago, sent it of to multiple friends, everyone- from Obama droid to hard-core gold and guns survivalist says it rings true.
In a non-working freezer in the garage, with lots of stuff piled on top of it.
Amidst the toilet paper and feminine hygiene products in the bathroom closet
Under a pile of pet stuff, assuming the pet can’t get into it and ruin it
In that bin of excess cables and electronic piece parts you can’t fit with everything else, with the added bonus that it explains any metal detector hits
And folks this is another reason why we simply cannot have a federal police czar. They will move to federalize all police. They will offer to alleviate the financial burden of towns in the form of their police budgets (which BTW are about sixty percent of a towns operational budget) and council people will jump all over it.
Oh it will still be Unkydunk PD. That is, until the Feds need to mobilize them for something. And remember it ain’t militarizing the police when the Feds do it.
Most cops are fairly smart but they know more about the local sports stats than the political chicanery they could be unwittingly involved in. Most are like everybody else, living paycheck to paycheck, and will be hard pressed when the feds say step forward and get paid, or stand still and be fired.
FWIW, when the fed nazi bastard demands my badge because I won’t confiscate guns or property, I plan to pin to his hand.
That’s a good suggestion.
What if the officer came to the door of one of those “hoarders” they show on TV. Where there’s so much stuff you can hardly walk through the house?
Wonder if the officer just give up before he started and move on to the neighbors, because it would take to long to ramsack the place?
what if you don’t have a cake hole?
will a donut hole work just as well? and what about gold teeth?
The downside is they know who is buying what. Especially if you’ve purchased anything online.
Where do you find out about those things? (Best source—not advertising but actual evaluations, comparisons, ratings, etc.)
