Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin hammered Jesse Ventura for winning a $2 million defamation lawsuit this week against Chris Kyle's widow.
After Kyle's death, Ventura continued with the lawsuit that stemmed from a passage from Kyle's book in which Kyle claimed he knocked out an unnamed Navy SEAL for trashing the troops. During his book tour, Kyle said that was Ventura. But after Kyle was tragically killed in 2013, many felt that Ventura, who has done a lot to damage his own reputation over the years, should have dropped the lawsuit.
"Hey tough guy, Jesse Ventura, your feelings were hurt because you perceived your reputation was besmirched by words in a book?" Palin said on her SarahPalinChannel. "So you turn around and sue, expecting $2 million from a military widow and her fatherless children? Yeah, like that is going to help your reputation, jackass."
Chris Kyle was a true American patriot -- the soldier who stood up for his country and saved so many lives by doing the job his Commander-in-chief gave him, taking out the bad guys. For his extraordinary work, Chris was known as "The American Sniper."(continued)

As I posted above, it’s entirely possible to state facts in such a way as to distort the truth. For example I could say Sarah Palin “resigned as governor under a cloud of accusations of official misconduct”. Factual, but it distorts the truth and implies wrongdoing.

Newt’s big problem in 2012 was there are two Newts, the Good Newt and the Bad Newt. Good Newt is utterly fantastic, while Bad Newt is as horrible as Good Newt is great. Throw into that pot the fact that nobody, Newt least of all, knows which one will come out at any day or hour, and you have a man who’s profoundly unreliable and untrustworthy.

If he had not died, he would have been able to defend himself in court. The outcome may have been different.
So, if a guy defrauds someone and then dies, his family gets to keep the money?
Another example of the corrupted courts. Jessie Ventura's name was not even mentioned in the book. Good example why we have lost our freedom with decisions like this.
Yeah Jesse, suing a dead military hero is really a fine way to win friends and influence people.

Jesse Ventura has a larger than life personality and the jury may have been enamored of him. If Kyle had been there, the jury may have been enamored of him.
They probably would have voted for the man they thought was the bigger celebrity.

Ventura claimed his income was damaged after the revelation, who does he think would want to have anything to do with him after this?

Although Ventura should probably have considered mercy for the widow and children of the man who died, he’s not obligated to do that.
The man who, as the law determined, committed the act of slander should have had that consideration when he choose to slander Ventura.
If a man were to slander you to the extent that he cost you your reputation and the ability to generate an income be immune from being held to account just because he died? Your reputation is still damaged and your ability to generate an income is also still permanently damaged. That hasn’t changed because your slanderer is gone.
