"My name is Solstice and I am 7 days and three hours pain free."
Solstice was a Majestic German Shepherd. He was mellow and just loved every one and every creature except for chickens. They scared the life out of him. I'd try to console him by telling him he ate their unborn chicks. He'd roll his eyes at me. Solstice loved to talk. He was always whining. I never stopped him from doing that because I knew that one day he will stop and I will miss hearing his voice. He loved his planet dog tennis ball. He was always chomping away at it. It made the most irritating sucking sound to a human but must have been music to his ears. Solstice was also very smart. He listened to Mark Levin
Solstice shared the last fve years of his life with me. He was a rescue. Lyme disease then Degenerative Mylopathy tormented him later in life. Despite all that he was always smiling. His last meal was a chocolate cake. He devoured it
I miss him. I miss sharing food with him. I miss his smile. I miss his whining. I miss looking for him camouflaged in some bushes. I miss his facial expressions. I miss giving him hugs. He was such a good boy.
The day I realized he was sniffing near the Rainbow bridge, panicked me. It was too soon.
I hope he was happy with me. I love him so much. He was a very good friend. I hope I did well by him.
Bless you for rescuing him.
Can I whine about my blurry screen ???
I am deeply sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Our pets understand love, and your dog knows you did right by him.
You gave him the best years of his life and you had his unconditional love and all the joy he could give you in return.
RIP to your good friend and may you look back with fondness to every moment you had spent with him. He chose YOU to do that with him.
My condolences. You and Solstice took very good care of one another.
I’m so sorry. I’m sure you were very good to Solstice and he loved being with you.
You love him and he knew it too
My beloved best friend died not long ago.she was with me thru many things.
I know it hurts.
with deep compassion,
Aimee
I’m so sorry. He was a lucky boy to be your friend.
So sorry for your loss. There can never be another Solstice, but there are many out there who would love to live and become close friends with such a caring soul. If there are no dogs in Heaven, can it be heaven? We shed tears along with you. Outliving a loved one is sad indeed.
When they finally ask to leave, or need to be helped, the best way we know to honor their memory is to give a good home and lots of love to another. Dogs are special and so are the people who love them.
So many of us feel the same about our best friends. Thanks for caring for him and thanks for sharing your story. Perhaps there’ll be a new friend for you to care for soon.
My heart goes out to you. I am glad that you had such a loving friend, and sorry that Solstice has gone ahead.
Tears here. It sounds to me like you gave Solstice a wonderful life. I’m sure he knew how well he was loved.
Condolences on your loss.
Oh my. Your beautiful description of life with Solstice brought back wonderful memories of my little lionheart dachshund, Maxwell, who died last September. How blessed you both were in your lives together. I would like to say it gets better, and I hope it does for you. I still miss my guy today as much as the first day I had to let him go. Just know you are not alone in your grief. Prayers up.
So sorry about your loss, but let me be certain. Solstice is in a much better place, believe me. I had 3 losses. My Black Lab Raffles, Boxer Chato, and Rottweiler Sampson. All 3 went to Doggie Heaven. I know they are ok just like Solstice. Solstice is in a perfect doggy body. He is happy and just running around playing with other children. I know one day you and Soltice will be reunited. God Bless
Prayers for you in your time of loss. Dogs are the best. They say we “rescue” dogs when it’s actually the reverse. May you find comfort — and maybe, over time, another rescue.
There’s a bond there. It transcends space and time. When that day comes, that you leave this world also, he’ll be there to greet you. There is hope for all creatures. The Apostle Paul spoke of this. So did King Solomon.
I’m sorry for your loss.
