Maybe we can reach a point of reconsideration on Ugandas Anti-Homosexuality Bill, Kerry said during a forum at the State Department.
The Ugandan president committed to meeting with American experts on homosexuality to try to change his mind about the Anti-Homosexuality Act signed into law last month, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Tuesday during a forum at the State Department moderated by BuzzFeed.
Museveni claimed to have signed the law, which imposes up to a lifetime prison sentence for homosexuality, after being convinced no one is born gay.
I talked personally to President Museveni just a few weeks ago, and he committed to meet with some of our experts so that we could engage him in a dialogue as to why what he did could not be based on any kind of science or fact, which is what he was alleging, Kerry said. He welcomed that and said that he was happy to receive them and we can engage in that kind of conversation maybe we can reach a point of reconsideration.
Kerry suggested this conversation was an example of the tailored approach the State Department is now developing to respond to anti-LGBT laws currently in place in around 80 countries worldwide. Shortly before his remarks, the Congressional Black Caucus sent a letter to Kerry urging it to examine relations with all countries with anti-LGBT laws, not just Uganda.

Study Over
A United States missionary effort, to teach those savages to think right, and boot up.
How much will it cost us (how much will we have to pay him off) to have Museveni change his mind? Is this the most pressing issue with which JK has to deal??
The other day John Bolton said that “sending Kerry to negotiate with Russia is like sending a cupcake to negotiate with a steak knife”. But this sounds like a fair match-up.
Send Obama, to make love to him, homo way.
The Obama Doctrine: Every country in the world must be as perverse as his America.
Why are we paying for this? What law authorizes this activity? What appropriation bill funded it?
I agree. Wouldn’t it be more persuasive if the President and Reggie took a vacation to Uganda together?
Nobody objects to how you feel about your same-sex friends. Just conduct yourself honorably and don't commit any perverted behavior --- at the very least, not in such a way that it intrudes upon the attention of your fellow citizens --- and I doubt your fellow citizens will have anything against you.
“How bout minding our own damn business.”
Yep.
Maybe we can reach a point of reconsideration
Word for Secretary Kerry: It’s in the Book. That’s the way it will be.
And you wonder WHY Russian MP’s are calling us the “United Pedophile Gay States of America”???
It just makes me sick that I’m part of a country that is actively pushing homosexuality on the world.
I wish Congress had the balls to rebuke Obama for this crap.
It’s BS like this that is sending countries into the arms of mother Russia.
Ohhh, I wish he had just said to the US, go pound sand and we don’t need your stinking perversion in our country.
This needs to be pointed out consistently - homosexuality will not bring judgement upon our country; homosexuality IS the judgement. Romans 1:26 starts with For this reason and continues God gave them up to vile passions. ..men with men committing what is shameful; so this is a judgement upon our society.
It also continues and says that they give approval to others for more and more evil acts. We see this today with our legislatures accepting homosexual marriages and the teaching of it as acceptable in the schools.
Note also that Romans 1:32 points out that those who approve of such conduct are just as guilty as those who engage in it.
Uganda is trying to avoid becoming a third post with Sodom and Gomorrah.
I am pretty well convinced that homosexuality is a deviant choice. But regardless, even if I am wrong, it is still wrong - a sin.
Being a normal male, I am born with a high attraction towards women, but it would be sin to engage partners before marriage or during marriage.
So regardless of whether homosexuality is hereditary or not, the practicing of it is a sin.
I can only imagine the Ugandan President sending the American scientist back to John Kerry infected with the AIDS virus.
If only Idi Amin were still in charge.
