The year ends most popular Florida Man tweets feature the very strange story of a 76 year-old South Florida resident who was arrested at the hospital bedside of his elderly wife who was being treated for a broken right hip which he had caused. (1) A nurse called police after she overheard the couple talking about the fight they had when the wife walked in on her husband surfing dating sites on the Web. The wife apparently struck the first blow by slapping him, but police arrested the husband for shoving her to the floor, thereby causing the woman serious injury. After 33 years of marriage, I cannot believe it, the wife said.
In Sonora, CA two old people were busted for having intercourse in a parked car in the parking lot of Docs Smoked Barbecue and...

I’m beyond 35-40 and I still want to have sex.
But just not with anyone beyond 35-40.
probably cause some of the remarks are tasteless and ignorant, you decide which ones
Distant memory. I am 59.
Yep, one day it’s, “wow, look at that great ass,” and the next it’s, “wow, look at that great fiber content.”
How did you know I look at everyone else that way?
A little crude but that’s funny.
because the tenor of your posts have been that it’s somehow gross or unseemly for older people to want to have sex with their spouses.
We live in a Josephite marriage but would not be permitted to have sex by our church anyway, if we are to continue receiving the Holy Eucharist.
so beautiful it made me cry.
I agree with the "gross or unseemly" part.
It should be a requirement of marriage that every couple read together 1 Corinthians 7 every day . 1. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 3. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 4. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 5. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
Far from discouragement, it is essentially mandated that a married couple have sex
its called fraud if one party in the marriage denies sex to the other and in fact the principle of marriage as laid out in these brief verses is that each person place the complete power over his/her body to the other. If either party want sex, the other party has to accommodate the need. Hows that for trust? And the only acceptable reason for holding off on having sex is that the couple mutually agree to do so for the purpose of prayer.
God made sex, and within the bounds of marital love, there is nothing gross or unseemly about it.
I wholeheartedly agree, up through the age of 25.
So there’s no biblical authority for your view i take it? personal preference only? bc others have posted scriptures pointing to the need for it.
My post #69 covers that.
That is all well and good. If a couple chooses to “help each other reach spiritual realization of God”, I thinks that great.
The problem is that you didn’t open with that line of reasoning. Your initial comment was simply one of disparagement of any and all who don’t think as you (and I assume your wife).
Methinks that someone whose aim - as demonstrated by their marriage - is to reach a greater realization of God, would be more likely to encourage - rather than disparage.
And too, I find it unlikely that those whose intent is to get closer to God would take the time to act as a rabble-rouser on FR.
Shame on you. You bring disrepute to the Name...
Any church that tells a married couple they can’t have sex is evil and wrong. Sorry but your whole trip is twisted, removing a large chunk of the fun and bond of marriage for just plain a silly idea.
You're all looking for some kind of Divine justification for your compulsive sex addictions long after procreative age.
well to each his own i suppose. we are Catholic. my oldest daughter is 25 years old and is marrying her 28 yo fiance in September. under your scenario they would be deprived of consummating their marriage and of having children. obviously this josephite marriage thing is not prescribed by the Church as the common way to undertake married life.
