It is undeniably fun to watch the polls turn against Barrack Obama and the Democrat Party. After so much frustration we conservatives can take comfort in the suffering of those who voted the Democrats into power, but that really doesnt help us in the long run. You cant eat schadenfreude. We have our real life to deal with and right now our real life isnt looking very good.
Those who followed last years election know the polls showed good things were coming until the pollsters finally figured out they were talking to the wrong people. When Rasmussen effectively searched out those who had not been previously surveyed Mitt Romneys side collapsed.
It is becoming increasingly likely that the polls and surveys we are seeing today have a similar fundamental flaw; they are all vulnerable...

Its not important WHO votes, but WHO COUNTS the votes.
I agree. The GOOBers have been convinced by their DemocRAT masters that THEY need to pass amnesty to take the heat off of the ‘RATS. These “rebranded” GOOBers are in for a big shock in 2014. They might as well start working on finding a new job right now.
And in the voting machine world, the cheating has become much more easy. You don’t need to have thousands of operatives in every precinct, you just need control of the voting machines and someone who is good at hacking software.
If amnesty passes we eventually lose our freedom and face violent and brutal oppression.
If the GOPe passes an amnesty, the Dems will take control of the House and retain the Senate. The GOP’s slavish obedience to their corporate paymasters will help spawn a third party.
And not just from the government. Those ‘oppressed’ groups will rise up against their perceived oppressors exactly the way obama’s sons and daughters are doing now with their “knock-out” games. Eventually the streets of any major U.S. city will make Baghdad look tame. And the government will ensure you have nothing to protect yourself.
Totally agree. If they do amnesty all bets are off.
Another history revision.
Most polls showed Romney losing and the GOP diehards clung to one or two flawed ones that didnt.
Rush helped in that, he told his followers that all the polls showing Romney losing were wrong and hthat e saw a Romney landslide coming. (Landslide on top of Romney's head maybe)
And naturally a Rush-bot shuts down his brain and accepts anything Rush tells them
Dems will take a beating next November.
Is it asking too much of posters to spell words correctly? Third graders playing word games belong somewhere else.
If the GOPe passes amnesty, third parties will be irrelevant. Twenty million Mexican voters will create a permanent majority of those who wish to loot America.
Americans will experience the tyranny of the 51%, wherein 51% of the population will ‘vote’ themselves the wealth which belongs to the more affluent (read working or productive) 49%.
Pretty much what happened last year.
Amenesty is the means to water down conservatives influence. So both party establishments are for it.
There was Joel Daly, but he was a news anchor.
The only problem I see here is the one I’ve seen in every election since joining Free Republic. Namely, Freepers and the base are divided, and the DNC, the GOPe, and the Media are very skilled at playing on those divisions.
There are the fiscal conservatives, the social conservatives, and the libertarians. They overlap, but they also divide. Last time, for instance, Rick Santorum came closest to beating out Romney, but the base kept listening to the damned media liars, including Drudge and Ann, and so Newt split the vote before exploding in old scandals that were familiar enough to those who knew him.
I don’t think there’s any chance of saving the GOP. We need a new party. But although the Tea Party can help, it’s not a party in itself. We need a strong, uniting leader.
Sarah Palin is the obvious choice. But too many Freepers and others in the base will dismiss her and go for someone else. Ted Cruz? He’s been good in his current role, but I don’t think he has it in him to be President. And, despite the Cato Institute, he is not a Natural Born Citizen, like it or not.
Sarah stepped aside last time. I don’t know what would have happened if she had gone the other way. I don’t know if she could become a viable candidate now, with all the media and many libertarians against her. But she’s the only one in sight with the leadership experience, campaigning power, and firm moral underpinnings and refusal to put self-interest first.
Cruz has a lot of fans. But I didn’t like the way he put on that strong performance on the floor and then dropped out and only gave a polite smile when the GOP leadership folded. Not a good sign, IMHO, of how he would act when the going got really tough and he had to confront the corruption in his own party. Sarah, on the other hand, has a strong record of dealing with Republican as well as Democrat corruption when that became necessary.
“If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” - Winston Churchill
Little good a third party will do by then.
I think I had golf on my mind because it’s cold and I’m stuck indoors.
