On Wednesday night Megyn Kelly declared on her Fox News show that both Santa Claus and Jesus were white. Discussing a piece in Slate by Aisha Harris about a black versus white Santa, Kelly that "just because it makes you feel uncomfortable it doesn't mean it has to change."

But since the actual fantasy was penned in a lily white context, Santa also turns out being lily white.

Jesus of Nazareth (in the flesh) was, I think, a homely Nazarene. He was not noted as looking like an odd ball.

I've annoyed some people who obnoxiously state that since Jesus was from the Middle East he wasn't white with my Teutonic Jesus theory. He was blond with a crew cut, blue-eyed and spoke in a thick German accent. I usually get through one or two beatitudes before they bust out laughing. (Imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger saying "blessed are the peacemakers...").

For the record, he was probably olive skinned, black haired and probably with a short hair cut as was the general style there at the time. I have no idea where all these hippy Jesus pictures with shoulder length hair come from.
