Can’t win on the merits so you try to defame?

No. I’m not a birtcher and you’re still wrong.

We don’t need 38 legislatures to take back the govt.

We can do it with 10. Or less.

We already have a process to amend the Constitution. Whenever someone mentions “Const Convention” their ultimate goal is eliminating the Const

This is in the Constitution!!! These are just Amendments he suggest to fix the constitutional Government! Like Balanced Budget Amendment, Term limits etc!!! There are two ways to amend the Constitution!!!

This is where you lost all credibility:

The idea that we’d resort to an Art V to put the fed in its place would have been nonsense to them.

I’ll tell you one thing Congress or The Executive are not going to limit Government in any meaningful way. This is the only alternative other than 1776 all over again and that can get messy!!!

Quite right. The five richest counties in the nation will not willingly give up their power.

Until we return to a partly federal system, meaning a senate of the states, there is zero chance we’ll restore our republican freedoms.

When I was younger I used to fear a Constitutional Convention but after I understood what it takes to Amend the Constitution I wasn’t afraid any more!!!

Here is where you lose credibility. Answer these two questions which must have a credible answer before the call for the Art V reaches critical mass:

1. where do you find people of the founder’s resolve, experience and foresight today?

2. how do you get those people selected to be delegates?

If you can’t answer these questions, then you’re grandstanding. I’ll give you an example of the difficulty in this. In TEXAS, one of the most conservative states in the nation, Spkr Joe Straus is probably going to have a majority stake in the delegates sent to the convention. I promise you, they’ll look more like Lindsey Graham or even Chucky Schumer than Ted Cruz.

An Art V convention is a Rube Goldberg method of doing what the states have the power to do now: bring the fedgov’s shenanigans to a halt.

Read Federalist 45/46.

If it was nonsense to them, then what was their reason for including it in Article V? What was their intent for it?

In California, I'll give you one name - Tom McClintock.

For question 2, people tried. McClintock ran for governor against Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cruz Bustamonte, Ariana Huffington, Gary Cole, and stripper whats-her-name during the Gray Davis recall, and lost to Schwarzenegger.

McClintock then ran for Lt. Governor with Schwarzenegger's reelection, but Schwarzenegger refused to campaign for McClintock.

Finally, people sent McClintock to the House of Representatives.

The intent of constitutional amendments is to make necessary changes that our founders couldn’t anticipate. The fact that the states have a mechanism as well as congress is to ensure a balance.

Understand what I said. You guys are promoting an Art V as some hail mary pass to save the republic. If you made this argument to Madison in the day, he would have said (and he DID say as much in the federalist papers), “Nonsense! The Constitution offers ample protections for the states to defend themselves against the federal gov’t without resorting to such extremes.”

You CAN try to use an Art. V as you described. I believe you’ll get liberal amendments instead of liberty ones, or at worse, a deadlock years in the making that wastes whatever time we may have left to make a real difference. To my point, the founders would have scratched their heads about this contention that such dire measures are needed. The Constitution already creates sovereign states armed with the tools to win a fight with Washington. They just need the resolve to do so.

And once we begin the process of fortifying states with the resolve to simply tell Washington, “no,” we will reach critical mass in short order. 5 or 10 states, acting in concert, can defang the monster. We can reach critical mass here far faster than we can getting 38 state legislatures on board, AND picking the right delegates, AND forcing Washington to step aside.

Jaqueline says nobody’s offering an alternative. I offer you one that can be accomplished cleaner and quicker than an Art V convention and without the very real risks to the union that an Art V convention enables.

Calling an Article V convention is a very serious and dangerous proposal. Additionally, proposing to keep alive taxes calculated from profits, gains and other incomes as Mark Levin is doing, keeps alive a primary power used by progressives and our Washington Establishment to control and plunder the real material wealth produced by Americas’ businesses, industries and productive wage earning workers.

When I hear Mark Levin propose the following 32 words as an amendment to our Constitution, I will be more inclined to believe he really wants to restore our constitutionally limited system of government as our Founders intended it to operate.

THE FAIR SHARE BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT -- SECTION 1:

“SECTION 1. The Sixteenth Amendment is hereby repealed and Congress is henceforth forbidden to lay ``any`` tax or burden calculated from profits, gains, interest, salaries, wages, tips, inheritances or any other lawfully realized money

These words would return us to our Constitution's ORIGINAL TAX PLAN as our founders intended it to operate, and help to remove the iron fist from the necks of America's productive citizens.

JWK

They are not “liberals”. They are conniving Marxist parasites who use the cloak of government force to steal the wealth which wage earners, business and investors have worked to create

Sure is funny to hear folks here that have NO national radio show and NO books published talking about how Levin is wrong.

It’s truly no wonder “conservatives” don’t make more headway since most who call themselves that have their heads up their arse!

Since you initiated the thread I made the general comment by replying to post #1. Wasn’t directed specifically to you. Guess I should have taken you out and listed to All.

Professor Federalist would have us believe the framers created a Rube-Goldberg system loaded with Hail Mary passes and that five states can restore liberty.
