I have been able to verify something extremely troubling in the past 12 hours. A close and verifiable source contacted me to lament the deployment of a friend from Ft. Hood to Egypt, where this particular soldier will be for the next nine months. We have no military base in Egypt, so were all trying to understand the assignment and wonder if he and the other 400 soldiers are living in a tent in the desert, and if they are, how do they receive supplies, from everything to food, water, ammunition, and fuel to conduct whatever mission they are to fulfill, for I cannot imagine a C-140 being allowed to land at Cairo International.
The following information has been sourced thoroughly. This particular soldier said that while he was not really thrilled about the assignment to Egypt, it was better than the soldiers that remained at the military base BECAUSE THEY HAD JUST RECEIVED THEIR DEPLOYMENT ORDERS TO GO TO SYRIA. That certainly contradicts the posturing and false reassurances and table-pounding of Obama and Kerry, does it not?

We are part of the MNFO who are stationed there.
DH did a stint there.
Paradoxy @Paradoxy13 4m 5 cargo planes allegedly carrying CWs from #Syria have landed in Mosul airport in #Iraq so far. @MastaKace @AbraJohn2 Theyre going back to Iraq now :) @Paradoxy13 Iraq is like the revolving door of #CW, Assad moving chemical weapons to Iraq and Lebanon, Syria opposition General Salim Idriss claims to CNNs Amanpour http://amanpour.blogs.cnn.com/2013/09/12/assad-moving-chemical-weapons-to-iraq-and-lebanon-syria-opposition-general-salim-idriss-claims-to-cnns-amanpour/
So according to the link you supplied, it is probable that unit(s) are being sent to Egypt, but the additional info about a deployment to Syria is unconfirmed or pure 'Bama Slime.. Yes?
I think our service men and women at FT Hood have suffered enough at the hands of Jihadists.........
The Russians certainly have moved enough top line hardware into the area to let everyone know this one is for keeps. Obama apparently still thinks he can bluff internationally even after his bluffs have been called more times then anyone cares to count now.
For all anyone knows, this is just a normal rotation of the peacekeeping troops we already maintain in the Sinai.
Huh? A C-140?
Angry at the dishonor of having his plunder and glory taken away (and as he says later, because he loved Briseis),[9] with the urging of his mother Thetis, Achilles refused to fight or lead his troops alongside the other Greek forces. (link)

Are we in store for some “kinetic military operation? Will the soldiers be settling in for an “extended overseas commitment?” Will the soldiers be exposed to “workplace violence”
But... but... that was just workplace violence... /sarc
It’s actually more worrisome that US troops in Jordan for annual joint military exercises seem to have remained there after exercises concluded.
I’m afraid we are stuck in the sandbox for the foreseeable future.
I pray we are not doing this but if we are, damn them to hell for spreading it.
Truthfully, the US has sent the military into Egypt for decades now, every two years since 1980, as part of the Bright Star exercises. The US Army is very familiar and practiced with large parts of Egypt.

That being said, the Army does not act overnight, and so does need some time to set up a serious base of operations, even if it is just a contingency plan.
Right now, with this Russian chemical weapons deal, things are cooling down somewhat, but that really doesn’t change the contingency game plan.
And truthfully, it will also give the US military a chance to rub elbows with the Egyptian military, exchanging a LOT of very useful information.
We’ve done Operation Bright Star in Egypt since 1992 so that would be the logical staging site now that we are out of Iraq.
So, stick four hundred of our soldiers in the Egyptian desert while the WH idiot dithers with indecision. Lovely.....
A close and verifiable source contacted me to lament the deployment of a friend from Ft. Hood to EgyptIOW, nuttery.
I don’t know. While in the Philippines, the buy-me-drinky-girls knew which ships were coming and going before the people assigned to the ships knew!
