That's the part that gets me.
Why didn't ace detective Chris Serino get the video tapes of the 7 Eleven and the names of the 3 stooges that Martin had been cavorting with there and the car they were driving and find out why they dropped him off at this location rather than his house.
Surely an ace detective like him could have connected the dots.
Some years back, my older brother was in law school. He spent the weekend with a pal he was friends with in school. The parents lived in an upper scale, gated Florida community on the water. Very expensive area. So, my brother decides one late afternoon to take a stroll and look at all the homes. Within ten minutes, there were police present questioning who he was and why he was there. My point is this: he is white. The neighbors saw someone who didn’t normally belong there and contacted the police. He and the family got a chuckle out of it and my brother wasn’t offended at all. He did joke that he needed some newer clothes if he was going to visit again. Suspicious behavior isn’t necessarily linked to race. It is also linked to if the person is a stranger and not acting correctly. IMHO.

based upon reading this it would seem that Sean Hannity’s “guess” that Martin was walking xlose to the houses to get out of the rain is an erroneous “guess” at best, or a purposeful mistaken assessment of facts at the worst.
Martin was an obvious criminal.
One thing I notice about this is that Zimmerman’s conversation with the police exonerate him. I think of all of those “never talk to the police” types who loudly say you should clam up when confronted by the cops. If Zimmerman had done that he might have been charged *that very night* and may well have been convicted in a trial few outside of the Sanford area would ever have heard about. If the cops were out to “get” him they didn’t need him to talk. I admit, he was lucky to have a fair-minded and honest police chief.

It also makes me wonder if that house is uninhabited. I mean, it's owned, but the owner is away, and that's why Zimmerman had the phone number. And THEN, if people know the owner is away right now, that's why they targeted that house. If so, that suggests that Trayvon either might have been involved in the first break-in, or might have been buddies with the ones that were and was contemplating a follow-up.

The type of burglary that Martin was up to is very common among young blacks in Florida. They peer through a window looking for stuff left on a dresser or a night-table (a watch, jewelry, even pocket change) and then get into the house - often through an unlocked door - sweep the stuff into their pockets, and take off again. Martin was obviously in the habit of doing this in Miami, since the stolen property they found in his backpack at school was typical of dresser-top stuff: a watch, some rings, etc. It’s an easy and generally safe form of burglary, and while they don’t get a huge haul, they get enough to make it worth their while.
I guess the only thing to be thankful for is that the burglars usually are looking for unoccupied houses and aren’t planning on sticking up the homeowner, although sometimes it turns out that the homeowner is there and things get violent.
An artist in Jacksonville was killed when a thug got into her house, thinking it was empty, and walked into the kitchen where she was quietly about to start preparing lunch. She was holding a knife in her hand, and she turned around and screamed when she saw him; he grabbed the knife, and while they were fighting, he stabbed her (he said it was an accident).
