FReeper Rogle, former New Mexico State Representative Rory Ogle, will be removed from life support this morning. He is not expected to live.
However, it is with great sadness that I must relay some very bad news. Last night I visited him at the VA hospital where I said my last goodbyes to my best friend, former New Mexico State Representative Rory Ogle (R) - known here as Rogle. Things continued to worsen the last few days and the decision was made to remove him from artificial life support which, as I type this, will happen in a couple of hours from now. His family (Mother, son and Brother) will be with him. The Doctors expect he will pass peacefully very shortly after life support is removed.
I wish I had better news, but I'm just glad to have had the opportunity to know Rory for as long as I did and I thank God that I was able to say goodbye to a very dear friend before the Lord takes him.
Rory, whom I worked with for 15 years, was a former Army Officer (Artillery) and graduate of the Citadel. He and I could have been twins ideologically - he had a deep love for this country and served it in many capacities.
He went into the hospital with flu-like symptoms on MLK day. They determined he had a blood clot in his lung and Pneumonia on top of that. He quickly went down hill and his lung collapsed so they had him on a respirator. For the past weeks we held out hope that he would rebound, but it was not to be.
What makes this especially painful to deal with is that Rory was a single Dad raising a son with a serious brain disorder (except for the single part, it's something else we had in common). In fact, last summer Rory had taken the 12-week Family-to-Family class I teach for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Now his ill son will probably live with Rory's 80 year old mother. Not a good situation at all.
Please keep FReeper Rogle (Rory) and his family in your prayers.
Sorry to hear this. Hope he has a peaceful passing on into the next life.

Prayers for a FRiend.
This is one of the most saddest things I have read here on FR. May the Lord Bless and keep him and may He supernaturally lend a helping hand to his poor son and mother.
God Bless them.

Lord, teach us to realize that this world is passing, that our true future is the happiness of Heaven, that life on earth is short, and the life to come eternal. Help us to prepare for death with a proper fear of judgment, but a greater trust in Your goodness. Lead us safely through death to the endless joy of Heaven. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayers of Peace and Comfort to the Ogle family and friends and a Gentle Passing for Rory.
Heartbreaking news. :(
I continue to pray for Rogle, his family, and for you too.
Thank you for telling us about your dear friend and our fellow FReeper. It hurts that the news is grim, but you have honored him greatly by your wonderful tribute.
Ping.
Dear Heavenly Father, with heavy hearts we come to You. You are the Almighty Creator, God; holy and full of grace and love. Our hearts are heavy because of a life that is leaving us. Death engulfs us, Lord. Fear is waiting to take us down. Thank you, Father, that because of Jesus, You know our pain and sorrow intimately. Thank you that Jesus knows the way through this dark shadow. Take the hand of our dear brother, Rory Ogle, and make Yourself known. Guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Keep that which is Your own and take it into eternity to be with You. In Jesus, death is but a shadow. Jesus has swallowed up its sorrows and pain. As it says in Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and staff, they comfort me”. Thank You for the comfort we find in Your presence. Give us the strength to hold up those who are stepping closer to seeing You face to face. Take away the fear in the heart of our loved one who will soon see You; let him find peace in Your grace, comfort in Your love and strength in Your mighty power over death. In this we pray. Amen.
*** I am so sorry, Jaguar. May I say that you are a good friend. He did hear all of our well wishes... that I truly believe. He also knows he is leaving this earth as a loved, respected person. May we all be so fortunate when our time is near. Bless you for allowing us to offer prayers and support. Hugs, Mom

Father God,
Author of our lives and fates,
Take this patriot Rogle into Your loving arms and free him from all care.
Shield and shelter his disabled son, Lord, we pray;
and guide his steps to a new life under Your divine Will and direction.
Comfort his mother, his family and his dear friend JaguarXKE, Father above,
And may your peace, mercy, forgiveness and grace
pour out over this soul, his caregivers, and all who attend him,
now and in the days to come.
In Jesus’ Holy Name,
Amen.
